Damn, a fine prize!
hey could we do another playtest and extend the voting a few days? i didn't get to play all of the maps and some of them i will need to re-test in order to have a full opinion on them
i'm trying to finish the contest in under 7.2 hours
If I ever do another one of these micro-contests I will definitely leave voting open longer though. I wasn't even going to do public voting at first, but then I got hungry and needed something to stall for time so I could go eat before announcing results. Again, this was completely spontaneous and started as a joke; with classes, working on two videos games, and TF2 mapping I just don't have the bandwidth at the moment to keep it going for longer than today in this moment.
looks like two minecraft pigs kissing
I think it could be cool if there were a monthly or seasonally 72 minute mini contest for nothing. I would’ve jumped into this one had I known about it, and had time to do it (maybe if it were on the weekend instead of when I was going to work, haha).
even the 72 minute tf2m contest is rigged... smh
Welcome, one and all, to the results of the first 72 minute map contest that I accidentally ran earlier today because I started a timer as a joke. Thank you everyone that entered and helped test, and special thanks to @Crash and @Muddy for setting up the joke that started this.
Without further ado, here is every entered map, and the award that I am bestowing upon it.
I didn't say it had to be a TF2 map, so I guess this one counted. Good work.
This was made three years ago, though it was originally made in 72 minutes, so I guess it counts. By default it's the oldest map.
"Most Insulting to the Judge"
It's a drawing of a map where I get shot by Flipy. I guess it counts as it's a drawing of a map, and I didn't specifiy that it had to be playable. Well played.
This is by far one of the tallest maps I've ever seen on a TF2maps server, not counting classics such as cp_mom and the doge series. This map's vertical achievements soar above the competition.
@Maid of Heart's ctf_likehalfanhour
Despite broken arena mode logic, this map's creative use of horizontally sliding doors led to seconds of fun before the spawncamping set in. Well done!
Never in my life have I been exposed so much broken glass, or jars of jarate. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but it sure is something.
@DrSquishy's arena_hngg_a1It plays alright, and looks quite nice. Those giant trees make everything look better. I can think of no better entry in the visuals department, excellent work!
It's a tie!
Flipy with ARENA_KILL14BIT and DrSquishy with arena_hngg_a1
Actual winner picked by 14bit:
DrSquishy with arena_hngg_a1!
Thanks for playing, everyone! See you next time?
Congrats to all :]
wettest map of the contest poggers
Probably should've submitted this instead of making everyone suffer through the Payload equivalent of a strongman bell
hoorray i have been awarded
also i'd like to see these spontainious contests more often
Wait what this actually happened? Amazing. Thank you.
as Unofficial Official Speedmapping Champion I give this contest my delayed blessing. Peace be upon ye and your maps
ngl being able to participate in this historic and unprecedented event was such a huge honour and will go down as one of my greatest accomplishments
...even if what came out of it was
Next on the list: 72 second contest
Actually, you missed the 7.2 minute contest. That needs to be checked off, too.
Damn, I actually want to run that now. Be right back, gotta draw something.
