How your personal information is used

We may use your personal information in the following ways:

  • For the purposes of making you a registered member of our site, in order for you to contribute content to this site.
  • We may use your email address to inform you of activity on our site.
  • Your IP address is recorded when you perform certain actions on our site. Your IP address is never publicly visible.
  • Your connect account allows for data to be synced over platforms such as VIP perks on our discord server as well as game servers. This information is not shared publicly.
  • The information connected via signing up with steam allows for steam authentication to be used with our site.
  • Your steam profile and feedback is displayed on the designated map page with the data you provided when leaving map feedback on our game servers.
  • SourceTV demos are publicly accessible through our demos site. These demos are used by mappers to help aid in the level design process by giving them another perspective on map test matches.
  • Chat logs from in-game can be used for moderation purposes. An example of this is a user connecting and breaking our rules then disconnecting before a punishment is applied.
  • Steam information can be used for moderation on our sourcebans site. This information cannot be deleted as it can post a safety risk to our other users if we do so.

Other ways we may use your personal information.

In addition to notifying you of activity on our site which may be relevant to you, from time to time we may wish to communicate with all members any important information such as newsletters or announcements by email. You can opt-in to or opt-out of such emails in your profile.

We may collect non-personally identifiable information about you in the course of your interaction with our site. This information may include technical information about the browser or type of device you're using. This information will be used purely for the purposes of analytics and tracking the number of visitors to our site.

We also store and process user data for our mapping feedback system. This system allows for mappers to receive organized data while it is being tested during a match in team fortress 2. This information may include your steam profile information provided by the steam API as well as the feedback you leave on that map. The system also stores the location of where the feedback was left on that map as well as the specific map version it was left on too. This information is publicly accessible. Users can also authenticate through steam on the feedback site directly and claim a map or leave additional more detailed feedback for a mapper to use.

Our discord bot will also store some data provided by the user. Our discord bot is used for organizing the map testing list. Data such as the discord user ID, discord user handle, the map name, the url provided of the map, and user defined notes. This data is publicly accessible on our bot site external from discord.

Our game servers log user chat logs and actions. This info is only used for moderation events.

Exceptions

Some data will not be deleted in some circumstances in order for us to protect our users. We will keep minimal personal information to enforce bans, mutes, and other administrative actions, in order to protect our community.
