IRL WIP time:
I'll be joining a group of very passionate volunteers who restored the previous Mat '54 "Hondekop" train that I've posted on this forum before (the 2nd image seen here:
https://tf2maps.net/posts/411674/). Now we've managed to get our hands on the last Benelux Hondekop no. 220.902 that was used from 1957 until 1987 to run between Amsterdam Central station and Brussels. All but one (this one) were sent off to be scrapped, this one was meant to go in a museum in Belgium, but it never came that far. It was left to rust away in Belgium for about 30 years, both outside exposed to the elements and in a leaky warehouse which has caused a big leak in the roof on one of the carriages causing parts of the interior tables to just fall off the wall (also, birds got in and messed up a lot of cabling and air hoses. FU birds). Now us way more passionate Dutchies have brought it back to the Netherlands for it to be restored from top to bottom. It will stay in a old locomotive warehouse to get some work done on the wheels (most importantly, adding brake disks which were removed years ago) before it is allowed to travel on the main Dutch railways. Once that's done (in a few weeks) it will be going to Amersfoort where it will be placed under a sturdy tent and then the real hard work will commence, bringing the old glory back to be fully operational again so we can take passengers on excursions again in both the Netherlands and Belgium.
Will post pics as we go along (which will take a few years at least, I'll be very surprised if we get this done before 2020), but here's a few of them I took today upon the train's arrival in Roosendaal.
