Areaportals may be a bit much, but doing func_detail work and considering VIS cuts are good things to start thinking about in alpha, before your map becomes too open for its own good.

A good thought to have is that AreaPortals are unnecessary in alpha until a majority of people are finding performance issues.

I'm sure I'll find some use for this discovery

I asked Hydrogen about Grappling Hooks because I wanted to include some a while back and he said it wasn't possible without enabling mannpower etc. How did you do it out of curiosity?
