From what I can tell it would already be very small in size, if this is the default grid size of Blender.

Areaportals may be a bit much, but doing func_detail work and considering VIS cuts are good things to start thinking about in alpha, before your map becomes too open for its own good.

A good thought to have is that AreaPortals are unnecessary in alpha until a majority of people are finding performance issues.
