I wonder if we'll see an influx of 5cp maps here following the matchmaking update

(Not that that's a bad thing, I'll take a bunch of 5cp maps over a bunch of koth maps)

There are 14 5cp maps in the game (15 if you count Powerhouse). There are 11 koth maps, not counting _event versions.

Yeah it's going to take a big increase in the TF2 player base for highlander to be viable for matchmaking, if it every would be. Even if it is I expect Valve to require you to queue for multiple classes, a minimum of 3. The more classes you queue as the fast you get into a match.

Another interesting thing that may be in this update, the winners of the 2015 Saxxy award recently visited Valve. They posted a video of their trip which included (a now removed) picture of a 3D model of Saxton Hale. Could we be seeing Saxton Hale in an upcoming video. A screencap of the model since it's now removed from the video:
