I knew that you could change fog dynamically but never knew that you could do it based on where the player is looking. Super neat!
There's actually a keyvalue for env_fog_controller called "Secondary fog color". Combined with the angle settings and enabling fog blend, it allows for blending between fog colors automaticly depending on which direction the player is looking. You don't have to change the fog color through inputs.

Some detailing I've been doing (slowly) on last of my map. I'm just trying some stuff out, and I'll see if it sticks.

And yes, don't worry. I know there are still dev textures there...

Im not very fond of that detailing there, I think its mostly the theme, i never though of that area as spytech really, i always thought it would be a thing more like upwards. Also i don't really like how clean spytech is in general.

Well, that's because it's SPYTECH. You know: Tons of fancy, modern and complicated machinery, chairs and other shenanigans. It's supposed to be a really important place. Probably like the "core" of something.

Nobody wants a dirty or abandoned spytech (although an abandoned spytech, with a shit ton of vines and destroyed stuff might look real nice).

Why would BLU want to destroy an unimportant place, like a spytech place which is already destroyed and/or abandoned?

Because explosions are nice. Why do red and blue want to blow up the same pipeline on plr_pipeline. Because explosions are awesome and both want to show they are excelent fireworks makers.

Logic in tf2 isnt allways logical irl.

Pipeline of more of an exception, most plr maps have BLU and RED exploding each other's base.
but the place blu are blowing up should at least look important, it's needed for the immersion isn't it?

Depends. It could be (like I said) an abandoned spytech (with all the vines and...well,abandoned stuff) that RED are trying to re-activate,so BLU's like "NOPE. If you don't leave that place abandoned,we'll just blow it up".

But i think there especially, everything is super clean and it just looks so odd. like, even high up on tall walls where you would think that red would just leave dirt it is super clean and concrete and... really odd imo.

TF2 Doesnt use logic
Upward you drop a bomb into a bottomless pit
Badwater, you drop it into a hole with some barrels?
Barnblitz, another hole with barrels, causing 0 property damage.
Thundermountain final you drop the bomb into a tower.... ok....

I think what's weird about it is that there's clashing ideas. The fact that it's exposed to the elements (no roof) and the dirty concrete textures on the right tell us that it's an industrial setting, but the spytech textures tell us otherwise. Either idea works as a finale - it's the execution that's lacking. You should fully commit to one idea or the other.

The end of Nightfall is literally RED or BLU blowing up the same pit of dirt.

I always assumed they were trying to blow up the building across from it, which has some spytech stuff and a massive laser.

@theatreTECHIE I think it would look better if you styled last like an exposed industrial area and put the spytech stuff in the pit and spawn rooms.

The fact that it's exposed to the elements (no roof)
I'm thinking of putting a dome roof over the top of the final building, either making a model for it myself or getting someone else to make the model for me. This would also be visible from the rest of the map, allowing people to look up and say "that's where we are going", especially on 2nd and 3rd.

I was thinking of doing this, although I think I might also want some spy tech in the room above the tracks on final (which I'm now calling data)

Vanguard referencing here we go!
