If it seems like i'm being defencive about it it's because so few people get activity in their prospective WIP threads, then when someone finally does get some feedback is all people seem to be worried about is how the information was conveyed rather than what was conveyed.

Triple posting with updates in your own threads is a sad affair, people really can't be picky about how things are said. I'd much rather get an abusive piece of feedback than no feedback at all.

But lets get back on topic...

One thing that annoys me is how everything clears up at each of the corners. I was having trouble achieving a seamless transition (I had used Filter -> Render -> Clouds in Photoshop to add some blue over the pink, and then I used a mask to control which areas were blue and which weren't, with a general gradient for the top texture). I was forced to resort to making the blue in all the corners which border other corners completely transparent to avoid getting an ugly "box" effect where I could see where each texture met the other.

Hopefully this is better regardless.

That sky is infinitely better.

Looking good!
I would say that the bottom part of the building in the third screenshot looks a TAD plain. I would run some trim or something along the bottom to maybe spruce it up a bit.

I'm not worried about a building being a TAD plain, you can over do these things. I'll probably add a pipe running up the front, on the left of the building in the for ground, but for a building that is the final choke of the map i don't want to overdo the detail in an area that'll see a lot of combat. A trim will be largely unnecassery. Just something to perhaps break up the horizontal monotony or the hard line at the base of the structure.

I will be adding more detail to the structure on the right though, which'll help move the eye away from isolated details like this.

Does it concern the corner of that roof?

how about the ghostly wood behind the building looking through the building right in front of you?

Yes, basically I made a miniature undetailed replica of that building in the 3D skybox, at the exact same spot, so that it would be visible in the distance, but I didn't think it necessary to carve out that spot...

It appears 'ghostly' because the 3d skybox and real map space use very different fog settings.

A bit of texture experimenting:

Now if only I could make better piles of snow:

Lighting needs some work (perhaps that normal map is still too strong).
