During 7.2HR, there was seperate testing done for maps. I highly doubt that no separate testing will occur for the Boogaloo.

That was only for judging. You were free to have it tested during the actual 7 hours

I think contest-maps-only tests have been run in the past, but you shouldn't expect or rely on them. Make a map as you would any other and have it in a decent state by the deadline.

Yes, they will. We tend to be fairly picky with judges for our major contests, though.

Probably one of the stupidest questions out there but I just want to ask anyways:
Can we upload different versions of a map developed for this contest? (as in uploading alpha, beta and different release maps up to the final release?)

You can upload/update the contest thread you make, but the latest version is what is used unless otherwise specified.
You can only have 1 version of a map entered as far as I know.

Hello everyone! Less than a month now remains for this contest! That means it's time for us to start thinking about judging.

Firstly, let me recap how we'll be judging this:

Judging​

• The maps will be judged upon two criteria: Aesthetics and Fun.
• There will be four categories to win:
  • The Aesthetic prize will be awarded to the map with the highest score in the Aesthetic category only (decided upon by a public vote and judges vote split 50:50).
  • Best in Fun will be awarded to the map with the highest score in the Fun category only (decided upon by a public vote and judges vote split 50:50).
  • The public choice award will be awarded to the map with the best overall combination of Aesthetics and Fun from the public vote. These will be weighted 50:50 between Aesthetics and Fun.
  • The Overall award will be awarded to the map with the highest combined score from all categories, both public vote and judges vote.

Some of you may be wondering why we're going with a new voting format this time around. We acknowledge that mappers have their own individual strengths and would like to offer a way for maps that may not be the best in one category to still be recognized for their strength in the other.

• If you are interested in judging, please contact me and I will add you to the list of potential judges. If chosen, I will contact you an adequate time ahead of the end of the contest to confirm that you are still interested and explain what you will be doing. Once you confirm that you are able to judge, you will not be allowed to drop out unless something horrible happens, so please think this through carefully!

So anyone can vote - but our chosen judges will have more weight. We're looking to get 3-4 additional judges (I'll be judging too!): if you want to apply, send a PM to both me and @phi saying why you'd be a good judge. Ideally, you should point us to judging you've done or useful feedback you've given before.

• Mostly, it'll be the same as voting normally - you'll also be asked to give a paragraph or so on each choice, plus feedback on the maps.
• Judging is difficult! We've had too many judges drop out before, so we'll be being fairly strict this time, probably setting a specific schedule for you to meet. Don't sign up if you know you'll be busy in January.
• If you've entered, you can still judge - however, your entry can't win anything. You can walk away with bragging rights if you get the highest score, but you won't get any prizes, sorry!
