Or just rebuild everything you already have!
I rly wish i could participate in theis but im too busy with other projects...
Don't feel rushed. The contest ends on December 30th, and by then I'd assume that you'd be done with the other projects. Also, you could just take a break from the other projects for a while, there is nothing forcing you to work on them.
Well i'm currently working on a trade map for a trade server, and they kinda need it as soon as they can, so i dont want to keep them waiting. I'll probably be done with it by the end of October but idk if that will be enough time for me
I have a plan to rebuild an asymetrical map from a source mod. Could I duplicate the brushwork and rebuild it from there, or would I have to build the basic geometry from scratch, or is the whole concept not permitted?
I'm guessing that it would fall under plagiarism if you take it directly from the source mod.
The original maker, by the name of PushBak, has said that these maps are open for anyone to use with credit, but I expected being told to build it from scratch, so I already started doing that.
Copy-pasting brushwork from another map is discouraged either way.
Thanks. In the end, I just remade it from scratch with the same measurements, so that's okay, right?
If you're going to build it from scratch anyways, then why not do a reskin? Or maybe modify/improve the layout a bit?
Used same measurements to make sure everything is in proportion. Layout changes are next because it's not gonna be very balanced as a direct port
Ah, alright. I think it should be fine then, as long as you make it from scratch and alter the layout and do your own detailing. (Don't quote me on it though)
Are we allowed to submit multiple entries to this contest?
Quoted you on it.
When will asymmetrical server-testing begin? Or will maps have to be tested independently?
You can get testing on your map just as you would with any other map. Look at the server events subfourm for gamedays, or join the steam chat and put your map up for an imp through the bot that is in there.
I don't see any "asymmetric boogaloo" event in the "server events" subforum, and i assume that because this is a contest, it will have separate testing compared to an imp's.
Nah, just throw it up for an imp and read feedback like usual
During 7.2HR, there was seperate testing done for maps. I highly doubt that no separate testing will occur for the Boogaloo.
Probably because everyone was on an extreme time crunch, and there was a ton of demand for testing. On the other hand, we have literal months to complete this contest.
Separate names with a comma.
