Since I am new to discord - basically all I've ever done is open it, look at it and close it again - I was able to see the TF2 thing and when I click on it I see a whole bunch of stuff, what do I look for or what bot am I supposed to press? thanks
Here's a quick rundown of what Discord is and how to submit maps using it.
Discord is an online live chatting platform. When you first launch Discord, you'll see a list of "servers" (represented as icons) you are a part of on the far left side. These are just different groups. You can join servers by clicking invite links given to you by someone on that server. Each server has a number of channels, which are the individual chat rooms and are represented as hashtags (# followed by the name). The name usually describes what the rooms' function is. For example, in the TF2Maps server, the #mapping-help channel is where you go to request help with a problem you have.

The Discord interface. The red box is the server list, the green box is the channel list.
TF2Maps (and many other servers) have dedicated channels for bot chatter and interface. TF2Maps' bot channel is simply called #bot. You can communicate and interface with our bots, including the VBot (the bot we use for map list and TF2 server management) using specialized text commands that all start with an exclamation point (!). You can see a list of commands for the VBot at the
VBot's website, or the important ones over at the
chat bot's thread. (Yes, that thread calls it the Steam chat bot and we don't use Steam chat anymore, but the commands are still the same.)
