So.... quick statement. My entry into the Jam was a skin pack, like the ones from Tough Break and Gun Mettle. However, I dont use skins, and I may or may not have deleted the zip file after uploading. I still have all of the files, but If I were to create a new download, everything would be marked as created today... Would this disqualify me?

You can just update the download thread, following the instructions in this post. If you still have the files you can re-zip them and just post an update, and the date on your original post will prove you uploaded it in the time frame.

You don't need to change the version string. You can use the same one and it will still accept the file.

My blackhole senses were tingling.

To the staff member who did this (and I know who you are), I officially pass the title of "CREATOR OF BLACKHOLES AND DESTROYER OF THANKS" to you. May you wear it with pride and an irrational fear of mucking with the backend stuff of the site.

Seriously. I didn't open the admin panel for a year after the last time it happened.

Made this back when the site was still down (thank you @Auwi for the inspiration):

I want to thank site staff for their professionalism in resolving these issues. If not for their swift actions we'd all be sitting in that burning building right now.

If you want help with re-assigning all the stuff to the correct people, I'm willing to help out (just like how people helped when the site migrated to new forum software). If that's possible, of course. I'm willing to bet more people wanna help if you make a thread for it asking for our help.
I'd be willing to help too, I also volunteered for the 72hr assortment task force, either way if you need an extra person im here.

Thanks staff for not only doing everything you can to fix this as quickly as possible, but for also helping out and organizing the jam, even if the site kinda died right after...

Update: Our site admin-in-exile and overlord @drp has found us a backup as of the 1st June! Anything uploaded before then will be revived soon (don't worry - uploading a replacement won't have broken anything.) After that - including all Jam entries - will still need to be re-uploaded.

If we have already re-uploaded files that were present before June 1, will they be overwritten with the backups? That would be cool, I'm not sure if I uploaded the correct zip for one.

I was hoping someone would have a backup somewhere, even if it wasn't that recent.

Speaking of which, does TF2Maps have some sort of disaster recovery plan? If not, it might be a good idea to come up with one after addressing the current situation (which I know Geit is working on doing when he's not at his day job).

@drp's backup managed to restore the lost metadata for all but ~4000 attachments (i.e. any attachments made up till June 1st) - We'll be working on restoring those last 4000 over the coming weeks, but we're also hoping that anyone who's uploaded anything since 1st June is around to reupload their own content anyway.

As for mitigation for future instances, we've implemented more rigorious backups (7 dailys, 4 weeklys and 12 monthlies), which are now being sychronised to an offsite backup (currently EU server), which in turn is backed up to a cloud service provider. I've also enabled notifications in the event that any of these backups fail.

The plugin in question that caused this whole fiasco (blame the plugin - not the staff member!) has been temporarily disabled until I can do an audit of it at the weekend. I'll also be writing a tool to help the staff reassocicate those last 4000 attachments.

I read through this whole thread and I'm a still confused about the re-upload situation for the 72hr Jam - should entries with external links (e.g. images) still be re-uploaded? My entry is still present, so I don't think I need to re-upload, but I want to be sure.

At any rate, I'm glad to see the site back up so soon. Thanks to everyone who made it possible!

So, I tried updating one of my maps with an external download location, whereas the previous version was directly uploaded to the site. The "Download" button did not change, still showing "0 .", and still directing users to a broken link. I had to upload a new file to the website, at which point the download button started working again. It seems that, if you change your download from a direct TF2maps.net upload to an external download link, your download page doesn't update accordingly. Not sure if that's related to the metadata issues, or it's just an older bug that I stumbled on.
