It's genuinely not a terrible question: US and EU lightbulb fittings do vary and if you haven't seen a particular type before, you could be caught short on a stool with a lightbulb in one hand and not a single idea what you're supposed to do. Some are insert-twist, some you need to catch the thread like it's a screw, and some need to be tight in the socket while others are disconcertingly loose. For reference:
