Doing some instanced detail, also for practice. Here's a snow lodge I am making for Smissmas Eve!

@Uncuepa protip: use displacements or smoothing groups on those big stone pillars to get the light to smooth around the 90 degree corners, that way they'll look rounder.
Also make sure the edge where the texture doesn't align (there should only be one on the vertical sections) is embedded inside a wall so it's not as noticeable.

I decided I would finally utilize my spooky medieval theme. So, I went back and looking in some old files for cool area ideas in abandoned projects. I found some and collected ideas. Formed a basic layout in my mind. I started mapping it out. Then I got distracted and made this...

Not much of a WiP, but here's the Ghostly Gibus hat I'm wearing on Halloween. It glows from the inside!

4eknxQV.jpg

Complete with a matching "W+M1" shirt. No one's going to get the joke, but at least I'll be happy.

Edit 2:
Changed "Ghastly" to "Ghostly". Thanks, @Mystery Biscuits!

Need blueprints. For reasons.

Need blueprints. For reasons.

Materials:
- 1 Party City Black Stovepipe Hat
- 1 white handkerchief
- Some toiler paper
- 1 normal paperclip
- 1 large triangle paper clip
- Black electrical tape
- A loose blade
-Scissors
- A black Sharpie
-Pliers (preferably needle-nose)
- Optional: 2 glow-stick necklaces

Instructions:
Using the loose blade, cut around the top edge of the hat, as shown in the picture (leaving a bit so that the top acts as a flap). Cut a small indent into the front of the new edge. Cut an indent in the middle side of the hat (as in on the right side of the picture), and pull and staple the hat together from the inside to get the a 'warped' effect. Cover the staples with black Sharpie. Bend the two halves of the triangle clip apart. Tape the triangle clip inside of the hat, making sure that the middle between the two halves is on the conjoining piece between the flap and the rest of the hat. ONLY tape the clip to the flap of the hat, NOT the bottom part. Staple the clip to the flap, and cover the staples with Sharpie. To make the ghost, wad up a bit of toilet paper into a ball, and cover it with the handkerchief. Rubber band the toilet paper into place. Cut the hanging-off parts of the handkerchief so they are fairly even. Stick a normal paper clip (straightened-out) straight-through the ghost. Bend the staple at the bottom of the ghost with pliers. Stick the top of the ghost onto the bottom of the flap via the staple, and bend the top of the paper clip over the top of the hat (leaving a bit of room below the flap for the ghost to shake). Cover the top of the staple with black Sharpie. Draw eyes onto the ghost with the Sharpie.
Optional: Tape 2 glow-stick necklaces wrapped-up to the inside of the hat.

Congrats! You have your very own IRL Ghostly Gibus!

Edit:
Step 1: Get a broken hat

Step 2: Put a ghost in it

Not even close.

Edit 2:
Changed "Ghastly" to "Ghostly". Thanks, @Mystery Biscuits!

I will make this now and wear it whenever I Hammer. Oh by the way, it's the Ghostly Gibus, not Ghastly Gibus. The latter doesn't have the ghost.

Ghastly Gibus, Ghostly Gibus, Waning Gibus, Waxing Gibus... it's all the same to me.

The last ctf map I made wasn't really good gameplay wise, so I'm redoing it. Here's what the flag section looks like at the moment.

Well that looks confusing and overly complex.

Quick question, how does one flip brushes for an asymmetrical map, such as KOTH?

Do you mean a symmetrical map? If so, select the brushes you want to flip, right-click them, hover over "Flip Objects", and click "Horizontally" or "Verically".

Edit: Oops, don't forget to duplicate the selection first! And I prefer to group the new half together before I finalize it's placement.
