After a few more hours of work, the brushwork is almost done! Next I'm going to have to use it as a reference while "attempting" to make it into a model.

So, my first ever map. Still deciding what I want to do texture wise, but I like overall how the gameplay layout seems to be working out. Still needs to be tested, though. (I've only used bots to try it out so far :p)

Looks like Proper is the way to go, seeing has how this is already incredibly detailed brushwork.

You could use proper, and be 100% limited to what you can create in hammer, or you could use Crafty and a proper 3d package and make whatever you like:
Open vmf in Crafty -> export to obj -> import obj into whatever software you like -> model away

Does Crafty even work since SteamPipe?

Can you manually set the game directory crafty uses? I cant figure out a way to make it load tf2s textures.

@iiboharz Crafty never stopped working, as @Jusa suggests it only doesn't load textures and models. Which for converting brushes to models where you want to increase or change details, isn't exactly a problem. but sure, if you want to 1:1 brush:model it's not the quickest way.

I haven't managed to get it loading tf2's textures but it will load custom ones, so if you use a custom texture you can keep UVs if that's important to you.

You might want to make every building in the background be in a grid, like in real american cities.

Here is an example of what i mean:

See how all the buildings are on a grid and have no rotation, even when a curved road is going straight through them?

Yeah, but grids don't follow the rule of cool.
The map looks like something out of Metropolis.

Inspired by the kind of aesthetic the Mhankö room from Mannhattan was based on, combined with stereotypical Bond Villain lairs.
