Junk was a freudian slip, I meant to type chunk.
The idea of a broad strokes displacement layout to outline the shape of the map actually seems like a pretty useful idea, the way you put it. I do however think it seems more convenient to use it as a sort of template rather than the actual ground, and then discard it and make normal ground displacements once all the geometry of the layout is done.
If you have four giant displacements covering the entire map, place big parts of them under floors but leave sections of them open in the outdoor areas, every outdoor area will render at least a fourth of the map's total area worth of displacement, no?
I enjoy your lack of d key. It's like you're writing in some really adorable accent.

well if you leave a bit of isplacement sticking out it will rener. though its just a isplacement therefore negligible.

as a person who was fixing his classmates' ictations for 12 years i have a special hate for typos :p though i still cbf going thru the text an pressing the d key properly so it registers everywhere. its easier to just be mad about it

You are making typos yet you are making it? Get yourself to a doctor.

What, are you making Tatooine? (Which orbits two suns?)

(is that possible in source?)

Nope. It's based off of Kepler.

Yes. I'll only be using ONE light_environment, because the other sun isn't possible because it's so dim.

Hooray. Now I can get some rest finally. Long day o' mapping tomorrow.

Remove your graphics cfg to take pictures. Also remove the viewmodel for your item (either use spectate or r_drawviewmodel 0) and remove the HUD (turn on cheats and then cl_drawhud 0).

I know, the lighting is crappy and requires some more work, and the sky hasn't been created yet.

If you want more, just give me a general feedback. (ex: How it fits with Highlander mode, sightlines, etc.)

Yeah. I know.

How is it leaking if I: Covered the entire map with a skybox2d texture?

I've ran into a problem with lighting. Does this means I has leaks?
And OK, next time no CFG on screenshot.
Edit: P.S. Same problem with no cfg included.

Looks more like you have an invisible brush of some sort casting a shadow on that thing. Nodraw would be such a brush.

I don't think so. There's no nodraw anywhere near there. I tried removing that brush that is on the cliff, still the same result.
Further more, that brush is way far from where the shadow starts if you look from the sun's pitch.

Edit: Maybe this will help solve this issue.

Why here, when I ray trace in hammer, that thing is shaded so well, while in-game it's all in the shadow (same issue without cfg)? Maybe this problem is also related?
