Battleborn is closer to Borderlands or Destiny raiding than Overwatch or TF2.

If any of the marketing had told me that at any point I would have been a 1000 times more interested in battleborn

McCree's nerf:
  • Fan the hammer recovery time down (ie he can reload faster)
  • Fan the hammer damage down from 70 to 45 per shot

Widowmaker's nerf:
  • Scoped base damage down 15 to 12
  • Headshot damage mult raised to compensate (so bodyshots are weaker, headshots are the same)
  • Must wait for descope anim to finish before rescoping
  • Infra sight charge slowed

Or if you want to read that in Blizzard's wording:

We need that kind of dev commentary as to why they did the things they did for TF2.

tbh @LeSwordfish it doesn't seem any more involved than TF2's

OW has placement matches to determine starting rank while TF2 just dumps you straight in at rank 0
OW shows you who is in a group on the hud, TF2 only shows you in the case of dual 6 stacks
OW divides the year into seasons, which reset the stats every 3 months, currently not sure if TF2 will have seasons
OW has confirmed skill based rewards, but I'd be very surprised if TF2 doesn't have something similar when it launches
OW did block you from playing with someone more than 10 divisions different from you, but since divisions/ranks are changing this could also change when it's reintroduced

In both they're pretty much standard modes (I think OW does best of 5 while TF2 does best of 3)
In both they have a few extra HUD frills before/after (But I think TF2's comp actually has more frills than OW's comp, but only when compared to each game's quickplay mode)
In both you can solo or group queue
In both you get a matchmaking rank and you can see friends/global ranks

https://gfycat.com/UnsungCandidArcticseal saddest thing I've ever seen and probably ever will

Also in other big news:
the PTR is available, that's public test region, so you can play competitive a little ahead of the main release https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/blog/20157263

And a big ol post from Jeff Kaplan about matchmaking and mmr: http://us.battle.net/forums/en/overwatch/topic/20745504371#post-3

The main takeaway is that the 'avoid player' feature has been disabled due unfairly to screwing over the top level players (surprise surprise, no one wants to play with them)

Important follow up encouraging players to block and report bad behaviour instead of using the now defunct avoid button http://us.battle.net/forums/en/overwatch/topic/20745504371?page=6#post-101
