Compiling and Packaging With CompilePal

The thing that was stopping compilepal from doing repacking was cubemaps, they need to done before compression begins. however, I've recently found a way to automate cubemaps. If I manage to implement that into compilepal, I'll be doing repacking as well. Pretty much automating the whole process... yeah, pretty exciting I know.

That would be pretty incredible.
The changelogs didn't mention anything about -makedevshots though.

I tried adding that parameter myself in version 22, but it didn't seem to do anything.

I've recently tried using point_devshot_cameras and -makedevshots as well, can't get it to work. I think -makedevshots is deprecated or something.

makedevshots is on my radar, more on that later. but uh... running the game option is kinda broken atm, so we're out of luck there

It does seem to be a little bit broken, yes, but it DOES work.
For me, it takes around 5-20 minutes for the process to start ingame, it's always random.
After it's done with all cameras it just stops and doesn't turn off the last camera, nothing happens.

Maybe this is something to email Valve about.

As for trying -makedevshots with CompilePal, I've waited around 40 minutes for it to start but just quit after that.

I forgot to post an update on my virus issue here.
Around 2 weeks ago I sent the Avira Labs the CompilePal files that were quarantined.
They've emailed me back the next day confirming the false alarm and have removed alerts from the system.
CompilePal works just fine now.

So anybody using Avira won't have to deal with this.

Whenever I try to compile and run my map, it gives me the error "Setup file 'gameinfo.txt' doesn't exist in subdirectory 'hl2'." I'm using sevin's method of content organization.

or put -hijack in the launch parameters, compilepal can manage that

Does it automaticly pack all the custom files or do you have to somehow enable it?


EDIC: Ok found out that you have to chech on run in copile on pack

Thanks for the usefull tool. I hope that one day i will be a better programmer than now and make something as usefull as this.

its a very useful thread but i have a problem everytime i open compile pal it crashes-stops working

We are kicking off 2017 with a bang, CompilePal v24 is here and it's chock-full with new features. Some of the new features you'll be seeing are: automated cubemaps, automated nav files, automated repacking, new shutdown function and more. The UI is also different now. With all these new features, we had to reorganize how the different processes are handled. The list of processes is now dynamic and will only contain the processes you want to have in your preset. We've also changed a lot of things behind the scenes and made various minor improvements.

Install notes: we've made a lot of changes with how compilepal works. To be safe, I'd recommend not to overwrite your old folder with v24. Use a new folder and port over the presets you want to keep.
