After the huge success of the last community-made update, we knew it was only a matter of time before some of you got together and tried to top it.

Introducing the End of the Line Update, featuring a whopping thirteen-and-a-half-minute long animated short, new cosmetics, a new taunt from the short, and an update page, all thought up and designed by the TF2 community. Awesome job!

During the End of the Line event, you can find and collect ducks from the corpses of your enemies. Badges are available for tracking your stats and comparing them with your friends. Happy hunting!

The event will run through January 5th, 2015.

I feel like that was a lot of hype with next to no payoff.

The worst thing about this is that people are blaming McVee for all of this.

Any mappers here that helped with the update?

If Valve says no map then you should say no update. Period. This thing was hyped for for over a year with the promise of no cosmetics, tons of weapons and a great new map, and all we got were useless cosmetics, no map, one stupid reskin and a video that was meh.

GG people. GG. I've lost all my faith in this community, which makes me sad.

Youme (YM) and Frozen both worked on (I believe also founded) the the map. And yeah, it feels wrong to release an update without an actual map to go with it. It feels really half-assed and Valve should've given you more time to actually fix the feedback you got about it being 'too hard to understand' before releasing, it's not like you were on a deadline or anything.

Don't lose faith in the community, lose faith in Valve, the content creators had everything planned to release as a great bundle until Valve said no-no.

I do lose faith in the community because this community is going to let this happen. We don't stand up enough when we massively disagree with some of the bad decisions Valve makes and recently, there have been a lot of them.

So why didn't the map make the cut again?

According to Valve it was to complicated for casuals to understand.

Right then. According to Valve casuals are dumb as a box of rocks apparently.

they arent exactly wrong on that account

If you imply that casuals=newbies with no experience, then yes.

In all other cases: no. Snowplow is literary nothing more then a linear A/D map separated into 2 stages. There's nothing complicated about that. Nothing.

People are too bitchy imo. They never promised weapons. They said there might be some. No map is unfortunate but hey, we got the great video we were waiting for.

I'm just suprised no body complained about the duck journal because THIS is the real scam. 4€ and all you get is a minigame to collect ducks.... really? Is that all or am I missing something???

Yeah i don't know where all these TF2 players got the idea that they were 'promised' anything. Either you've been reading faked information about the update or you're just misremembering. Cosmetics and maybe a weapon or 2 if they can get the ok with Valve was all that was said and even those were understood to be a bonus.
