it's not all hats you know, we still have the competitive community. you know, where players PLAY the game

You mean places like gotfrag where the average attitude could be likened to that of the theives guild in the ratway in Skyrim or the underbelly of Gotham City?

No thanks. I'd rather play 24/7 instant respawn 2fort.

I'm just glad we have TF2m, where, for the most part, we've created our own little world where we can bend what little flexibility TF2 has towards something we desire. Otherwise i'd have probably left TF2 a while ago.

Meanwhile all pubbies who wanted to PLAY the game get shafted :33
Now now, there are some good servers still out there that clans host at least in Australia.
They can be hard to find but once you find the right server you can often just go back to it and expect to fight people....that have skill.

that works both ways. I could say

You mean places like trade servers where the average attitude could be likened to that of the theives guild in the ratway in Skyrim or the underbelly of Gotham City?

but seriously, comp tf2 is great. you don't get trolled by stupid weapons. it's like people respect the game or something. it just feels much more enjoyable to me.

People can respect the game without being comp players. I play over at Playstuff semi frequently and have a great time with great people and get custom maps tested at the same time, even if they're alpha. That doesn't stop certain factors about TF2 nibbling away at me, like why the fuck a demoman has a treasure chest on his head or the scout is wearing something that resembles the top half of a rabbid rabits face.

I don't mind some custom hats, thematic hats like the soldiers stash and steel pot are really amusing and relavent and barely mess with the design ethos of TF2. But then i'm just starting another repetitive arguement we've all heard before and are are all fully aware of. I just really felt like saying "Again? Why am i not surprised".

It's clear Valve can do what ever the hell they want with TF2, not only because they own it, but because its pretty much reached the pinnacle of its usefulness in terms of the intended experiments and potential for profit. I just kinda wish they wouldn't, or would at least make an effort to retain TF2's personality, rather than turning it into a testing ground for junk.

I hate that they can now do this willy nilly. It used to cause huge outrages when they made promotions. Now they can have 8 per day and everyone is fine.

This is really dumb.

It's just as awful, but everyone who cared has either left the game, or been entirely desensitized at this point.

It's not even TF2 anymore. It's just hats for other games with shooting.
I find it hilarious that people even bother complaining about pointless cosmetic promos. Ugh hats that have no changes to gameplay that I can mod out myself are ruining my game.

Huh don't you regular a 24/7 2fort sever?

In other words create a bubble shutting out any ideas that a few very vocal people deem unfit.

You clearly have a problem with the game but its not enough to get you to quit. This also goes for some "other" people and to that I bring up an old comic that is still very relevant.

This is part of why I left TF2M, because if anything its become something like your avatar, an old turtle that is unwilling to accept that TF2 is a different game. Instead this site would rather wait it out and yell at the new kids on his lawn vs. just accepting it and making the most out of it.

Oh and lastly I would like to make the note that in the long string of TF2 promos these are defiantly some of the better looking.

Aha. I just thought of something... what about the people who never played TF2, but pre-ordered a bunch of games? Do they just get a shitload of items when they play tf2?

Pretty much. My brother bought MNC before TF2 and he got the essential accessories and stuff when he first played.

Let's say for the sake of argument that there was a reasonable way to disable disgusting cosmetics, that didn't break every patch, or get purposely wrecked by valve. Sure, I can mod those out, then what, how do I mod out the people who won't shut up about whatever ridiculous hat or misc some vocal idiot is obsessing about. How do I mod out the idiots who just sit around half the game trading items?

unwilling to accept that TF2 is a different game.

Last I checked Grazr was far from some delusional crazy person who couldn't come to grips with reality. I'm pretty sure he's more than able to accept it, that's irrelevant though, the point is that he, like so many others does not approve of it.

accepting it and making the most out of it.

Let's say, because I'm the wonderful nice person that I am, that I buy you a bunch of made in china toys that range from average to awful, and then I take your old toys that you really really liked, and nail them to the ground, and then repeat this phrase to you. How do you think you would feel?

Oh and lastly I would like to make the note that in the long string of TF2 promos these are defiantly some of the better looking.

This isn't really relevant at all, if you read any visual design overview on tf2 you will realize that, whether you like the items or not, they have no place in tf2.

Just because they're less atrocious than other items does not make them acceptable.

Don't be a trollop, you couldn't be further from the truth and i can list 3 reasons why:

1) In the worst case scenario painted hats detract from the immediate capacity for players to ascertain whether a player is a threat or not (friend/foe). The amount of times i've been killed by a player coming up some stairs/slope wearing an obnoxious pink hat doesn't bare thinking about.

2) In the worst case scenario the abstract shapes of hats and "shared" hats also detract from ones ability to determine which class a player is (such as players half in cover), which also affects gameplay.

3) Promo items also detract from the artstyle and affect the capacity of people to hold their immersion.

The very reason there is an arguement for this is because it does affect gameplay. It's become a commonly accepted fact that Valve have shattered any semblance of acute game design theory regarding TF2, so why you even defend it as otherwise is beyond me.

Huh don't you regular a 24/7 2fort sever?

Yes i do; and it looks like that joke went right over your head.

In other words create a bubble shutting out any ideas that a few very vocal people deem unfit.

OK, let me be more clear about this. Custom content communities including, but not limited to, TF2M. Creative communities. Communities that try to improve on TF2. Communities that have improved TF2. Communities with countless ideas that provide Valve with important feedback on the successful and unsuccessful assimilation of new content. If it wasn't for people like the masses who complained about issues such as the "imba" equaliser we'd probably be stuck with a much worser game than the one we have now; and you want to undermine that process by telling people to get over its fualts because you don't like reading about it?

You left TF2m because you couldn't handle complaints you don't even have to read, or acknowledge, yet you still visit the site and even bother to post. Yet you consider us hypocritical because we still play TF2 and still choose to complain about it.

You clearly have a problem with the game but its not enough to get you to quit. This also goes for some "other" people...

Huh, 3 and a half hours of TF2 in 14 days. I must really love this game more than i rea- oh, that's right, i've been playing Skyrim, Dawn of War and Day of Defeat instead. If it wasn't for TF2m/PS and their gamedays that'd probably be 0. I stick around TF2 'cause my friends play it and it becomes a social thing, plus i want to make it better; and hope that it at least wont get any worse. Not because i'm a fanboy who secretly likes a game he prefers to moan about in his spare time.

This is part of why I left TF2M, because if anything its become something like your avatar, an old turtle that is unwilling to accept that TF2 is a different game. Instead this site would rather wait it out and yell at the new kids on his lawn vs. just accepting it and making the most out of it.

What exactly is the point of your post. That people aren't allowed to remark on TF2 updates unless it's all smiles and rainbows? I... and everyone else, including yourself, should reserve the right to complain anything they're unhappy with.

If you left TF2m because you couldn't handle the fact that you shared a minority opinion or that people like to complain a lot then i really don't know why i'm even replying to you seriously if not to at least correct some misinformation and/or poor observation on your part.
