no HUD elements or player models either.

what do you mean by no player models?

would that be allowed VVV

would be sad not to allow this because these kind of details makes me smile a lot.

so no player model = no ragdolls, no gids, no animated npc and whatnot?

or is it only forbiden to have actual players in your screenshot

edit: picture taken from pl_swift btw. credits to its author

You completely missed the context. When taking screenshots "no player models" means the view model you see when you're first person. ie your hands and weapon.

You can make your own collision rain really easily. Just duplicate and edit the valve rain to collide with world, debris collision group, and cull.

ah, okey, so i had the wrong thinking of a "picture based" contest, but so in the end, the area has to be kinda working environment from every angle, not only one shot and the rest not built well at all. would've screwed it up otherwise :D

so it would be good to make use of sealed doors or any other "visible" borders to that 2048², or would it be alright to have just player-clipped areas to show, where the "rest of the map" would lead to ?
sry, if these sound weird, just trying to get my head around this stuff :)

Does it matter? You're trying to make the best detailed area you can. it doesn't matter if you border it in completely or not as long as what you have within your 2048 area is as well detailed as you can you're onto a winner.

Can I use a custom skybox texture?

Did you make it?

Insert the answer to my question as the answer to yours.

This is going to be the first contest I enter. :D

Question: Does content added because of community-ization of a map count as "Valve Content" or is it off limits as well? (I.E. Egypt Textures)

Similar question. I'm afraid this wasn't made entirely clear in your OP.

Valve owns the intelectual property rights to ALL the content shipped in TF2. Enough said.

I will also be entering this contest.

Who is this "Velvet fist iron glove" man I keep hearing about? He seems pretty popular. >:3

I believe I am being used as an example of a "stupidly long name". Of course that's hardly fair, as it's not my fault: blame Mr. and Mrs. Glove instead!

I asked this question for the swamp contest regarding my entry, and i was allowed, as long as the play area remains 2048x2048. Since the critiria and rule scheme is the same as the swamp contest i imagine it's still fine. Let that rest your thoughts for the moment until an actual confirmation is made though, surprised Youme missed your post.

i didn't find a confirmation of this.
is it ok, if i have a huge window with stuff behind, and the playable area is still 2048 ? or does the window and the stuff behind need to be in that 2048x limit ?

edit: wait found it ;)
maybe that could be made clear in the beginning post, so it's more clear.

but another thing. i know you answered the question, but still i try to get my head around it. if i have this 2048x2048 area i should have some doors or paths that go past that 2048limit and i wanted to know how that works in the judging. i mean, i could just seal of everything with closed doors. just because, how will you recognise if its in the limit or not ? just keeps bugging me
actually i'm just excited :D

Red line represents 2048x2048. All content should reside inside this area. Some of my stuff (props) overlaps the boundary, but the origins remain inside the boundary. You can expand your skybox further as represented by the blue line for the purpose of taking screenshots from outside the boundary. But all content remains inside the 2048x2048 area.
