What was your first time playing TF2 like? What was the map? What class?

And if you cant remember that, what was your first Custom map that you played in TF2?


For me, I joined an Arena Badlands server, and was promptly killed. I left, thought my computer froze on the long loading screen, and found a granary server. I played engineer, and distinctly remember typing into the chat HOW DO YOU BUILD STUFF, and after someone told me, I promptly built a teleporter entrance on the second point.

My first custom map was CTF_Convoy, I think, but it may have been Vector. IDK. Vector is better, though.

What was your first time playing TF2 like?
Totally balls-to-the-walls awesome. Instantly fell in love with he artstyle, the characters, and the maps. The whole evil base premise was awesome.

What was the map? What class?
2Fort Engineer. Camped in the intel room. Hell yeah!

Dustbowl, Stage 1 as Soldier. Stupidly walked towards Blu's spawn, hence the quote.

And if you cant remember that, what was your first Custom map that you played in TF2?
Umm, it was a 5 or possibly 7 CP map in which you had to shoot open the doors to the points. Wasn't that good in retrospect.

Great, pretty much what I had expected from the trailers but faster.

Dustbowl. Was just as spammy then as now. Played soldier for my first year of tf2 basically.

ctf_stronghold_b5 according to my maps folder. in 2008 january 17th.

First map was actually a custom map...no idea what the name was, but I recall an area in a cave, wide open spaces, with rail road tracks going through the air <_<
Dustbowl was the next map.
Played a scout/sniper game for my first 60ish hours

Amazing, I loved it. It all came about because my brother thought it sucked and I told him it was just him that sucked. I went the class he went (demo) and did quite well.

2fort. Demoman. I only used nades since it took me a wee while to figure out how to switch weapons.

First time playing tf2 was during the pyro update free weekend. Played some 2fort as mostly sniper and spy, wishing I had a computer that could run it.

confusing. had to learn a lot.

2fort/dustbowl. solly and medic. a lil engy.

dm_store. i had no idea what "dm" was. all i know was that deathmatching is fun.

What was your first time playing TF2 like?
Awesome. It was on the Xbox at the time after hearing about all the hype from the 'net, since I didn't have it on PC yet. Very confusing starting off picking classes but the controller suited me, and I became a badass Sniper.

What was the map? What class?
I think it was 2fort, Heavy. I soon learnt hot to walk onto that sniper deck unless I was actually looking for trouble.

And if you cant remember that, what was your first Custom map that you played in TF2?
When I managed to get the PC version, I was on a really, REALLY bad laptop, so the gameplay was dreadful. I think I remember it was cp_orange_x...

What was your first time playing TF2 like?
I really don't remember. I guess i spawned with some class and played.It was amazing so I kept playing it more and more.

What was the map? What class?
Somehow I think it was fastlane, but I am not sure. Class? Well, probably... I don't remember.

And if you can remember that, what was your first Custom map that you played in TF2?
And yet again I don't remember. Could be cp_wolf. As it was popular on the server I played.

What was your first time playing TF2 like?
The first time I played TF2 I quit, because it lagged to hell. My PC at the time ran tf2 at terrible fps. I quit it until a few months later when I upgraded my PC, in which I fell in love with it.
What was the map? What class?
First run was on CP_Castle. Otherwise, CTF_Well.

And if you cant remember that, what was your first Custom map that you played in TF2?
CP_Castle4. I can guarantee it.

I don't really remember, but I remember that I was a noob for so long time. Only played Scout. Took me lots of time to really understand the game.

Some kind of Dustbowl back in the beta. My first class was the spy, because he looked cool on the background picture

Something crappy for sure. cp_lazytown or something like that...

My first time, I played as a Sniper on 2fort, and was amazed at the graphics. I was bewildered that the Sniper had charged shots. Then I played a LOT of Dustbowl, and used to hate 5CP maps.

Dont remember first custom, It took me awhile to get TF2 on PC.

What was your first time playing TF2 like?

Confusing. I couldn't get used to the fact that classes didn't have grenades/special grenades. Also, i couldn't get used to how shit the heavy was since they removed armour and how powerful the scout was with this scattergun. 100 damage per shot? You were lucky if you could take out half of someones hp in TFC with scout, let alone nearly kill someone with 1 shot.

Also, it was annoying how many maps stalemated because of the standard weapons. New unlocks stopped people from having the same loadouts and made room for some tactics to out match others. But it gave me the oppotunity to get skilled with the standard weapons and surprise people with new, unorthodoxed manouvres.

Dustbowl, medic. Because no one played medic on A/D maps.

What was your first time playing TF2 like?

Surprising. I got the Orange Box for my PS3 way back in 2007. Didn't have a connection on it to the internet for a while, when one day, my dad decided to configure it. We always thought it "was just like Counter Strike!" It took mere seconds to prove our minds wrong. Team Fortress 2 was incredible, and it's all we played on the PS3 until Littlebigplanet Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots came out. Even then, TF2 was still the most-played game.

What was the map? What class?

Probably 2Fort as a Heavy. Just like the trailers, y'know? Granted I didn't really watch any trailers for it. Like I said, TF2 wasn't really the reasoning for getting the Orange Box.

And if you cant remember that, what was your first Custom map that you played in TF2?

"Date Modified" on tf/maps lists cp_orange_x as my first .bsp on October 12, 2007. Which doesn't make sense. At all. So I'll go with the second-listed map - pl_dustbowl_b3, June 17, 2008.

First time like:

I remember it being extremely laggy and glitchy, as at that time I was running on a Virtual machine. I played about 2 minutes before I left and gave up until a few weeks later.

Map & Class:

2fort. Sniper, I enjoyed sniping in other games. The scope graphic was broken on my VM.

Custom map:

Some random map from FPSB. I think it might have been that baseball onee.

What was your first time playing TF2 like?
If I remember correctly it was more along the lines of "Oh god how do I upgrade my buildings this makes no god damn sense what so ever" to "AHAHA FIRE FUCK YES" in mere seconds when I learned about the pyro. For a while I used the Backburner (siiiigh) till I realized how fun airblasting was. Pyro didn't last long till I learned how to play Engineer correctly, then later how to manage rockets and rocket jump effectively.

I got the game when I bought that "Valves complete game pack 2008" package. I bought it simply because I had two friends that played a lot of the games on that package and a lot of them looked really cool at the time. That and it was my birthday lol. I don't regret it even slightly.

What was the map? What class?
I chose Engineer like I said but it only lasted a good 2-3 minutes till I lost all hope in trying to play the class correctly. My first map was Orange_x3 sadly.. that explains why I thought pyro was so under powered for the longest time because I had saved that server (Which was playing that map 24/7) for at least 5 days.

And if you cant remember that, what was your first Custom map that you played in TF2?

Totally awesome, cant really describe (and its almost 3 years ago). TF2 was also my first multiplayer game

I have no idea, the first maps i remember playing were lazytown, cp_orange and some rats map. I have no idea about the class, probably heavy, soldier or engineer.
