it so looks fucken good, I can't stop looking at it!
Getting some nice Celeste vibes from this one
Spoiler: pretty big images
Actual lighting using shadow mapping and the VSM technique to improve the accuracy and quality. Supports normal maps, possibly generated procedurally right in the user shader.
Been soulsucking so far, and a lot yet to be done for this to work properly.
Happy 2020 everyone! Here's content.
Nothing's final, since I'm not too far into working on this yet.
Love me some mvm maps!
I'm making one as well. Just finished editing badlands skybox to be more snowy
it ain't much, but it's honest work.
Alright... What am I seeing?
Wish these had existed back in the day, whoever made the custom fence that was just 1 instead of 2 pieces was good but like, this would've been so much better
Some more images of the MvM thing I'm working on. As you can probably tell, I'm aiming for a farm theme with some bits of construction.
About a year ago I drafted a CP map, but I didn't do anything with it because some key features seemed too complex for me to tackle.
Yesterday I learned about instances, and the idea became miles more possible. Here's one of the areas I once thought would be impossible for me to make. It's still pretty barebones, but that's because most of my time in Hammer was just marveling at how I never heard about instances before. These things are so useful, and I'm not even using them right yet!
It's not much, but it's mine. After never doing anything for about 2 years I'm actually sitting down to make a map. Rotational KotH.
With added size heavy swarm.
Looks like way to much of a reliance on props for that amount of space. Try to focus most of your geometry on brushwork, be it buildings or ground features. Makes it all around less messy and run better due to the lack of prop spam.
It's not in a playable state by a loooooong shot, but it's slowly getting there.
A starting of something new... (Hopefully this one gets further than a rough layout)
I've been working on a MvM map (Aeon) with a modified medieval restriction to where Engineer can build using his PDA. It can only build low-tech machinery, mainly for use in Medieval. So, these are them:
Going clockwise, you've got your mini-sentry--a crossbow in a bucket. It overheals allies and can milk enemies.
Then the big gun, which is actually not a gun but a "ballista"--a wheelbarrow with a bow attached! It shoots bomb arrows, which can mini-crit on direct hits.
The center is just a Target Dummy. But wait! It also has the Wrangler shield--Yes, you heard right. It can even be ubered! Only for a short time after repairing to max HP, however.
The far two on the right are the grills. After a few seconds it spawns magical Meat--Which heals, and gives the consumer some useful buffs. A boost in speed, jump height, and attack rate are included. (However you might have a heart attack)
Been using my spare time to work on Munitions stage 3 visuals, still wip but looks a lot more like a proper factory now.
Tried making an arctic outpost artpass

I've been putting my map through art pass recently, going for an under-construction kind of vibe in this area. Hoping to kind of finish up this side of the map soon.
