MAGIC! or quite possibly the door we cant see which is directly below the window. They could have built the room around the missiles also and they could just be for show.

So Portal is in the same universe as TF2, just like HL2 that is in one universe with HL that's with CS that's with other CS's.

Quick experimentation with the Borneo/desert assets:

Not exactly sure what I'm going for, but it looks fine in-engine.

I'm not sure if the Borneo trees fit with the desert theme. You could get a Yukon-y look if you used the pine trees instead, but the ones you're using just don't fit at all.

I could see it working if the trees had a little less green tint to them. That mossy look suggests moisture which doesn't match the rest of the scene.
