You already showed me this, but I gotta say again: this shit is dope as hell.

Let me just put this to rest. It's not a big deal, it's one of many posters that will be on the finished map and yes it's not 100% accurate for the time period but it's my artistic vision and at the end of the day, I can make what I want. I accept the critique and have made a simple, artstyle accurate version that will also be on the map, but I also like the text-filled version. Let that be the end of wip thread spam.

You can have the text-filled version and still have it fit with the game's art style. Just use proper fonts, hierarchy, and font-setting.

Point A got moved a bit and some things got shuffled around:

had some extra time, so had a go at updating the skybox for my little pl map, not quite there yet, but hopefully baby steps in the right directions...

new version (5 color palette, hand painted, low poly displace - still needs a lot of work!):

That is the mountain in all valve skyboxes. They just reposition the sun and change a few colours each time they need a mountain.

I'm aware. That wasn't what I meant. :p

It looks less prominent to me, though that might just be the angle.

Mayhaps. I guess it depends on what it looks like in game.

i like the exaggeration personally, makes it seem more cartoonish

Speaking of Cartoonish, the Grinch lives in this skybox.

do you paint these from scratch @Leminnes ? how do you handle the cube projection?

I did, in a way. Boylee gave me a bit of a reference that I worked from, but it doesn't really look much like it anymore xD

Boylee also set me up with a Photoshop doc that uses the new-ish 3D properties of Photoshop to project the skybox on a sphere and then it uses camera positions to create the skybox. I might direct Boylee in here to better describe how it's done. I'm not 100% sure I could have done it myself without his help. :p

please please please explain @Boylee , this is something i'd love to be able to do. Perhaps a forum post rather than letting it get buried in the wip thread :)
