From someone who actually has some experience in the field of astronomy.

That radio telescope dish is REALLY waaay too small. That whole ditch you have could be the dish and it'd be fine.

EDIT: Also, either make the dish shallower, or move the receiver closer to the dish. It's waaaay out of the focus plane/point and as such would basically give you crap readings.

EDIT2: The sag on the receiver is really low too, it'd sway too much in the wind (even a small wind) and throw off readings.

I see your point, but you know, it has been really hard to have a bearable proportion of the whole map while not screwing the gameplay/visuals/optimisation. I actually like the look of it, even if I know that this dish is off-scale.

Also I still can't tell if it's supposed to be a water gun or not. Can you give some handy tips on distinguishing between guns and spaceships? Every time I visit polycount I feel out of place and uninformed.
