Ok, so I actually downloaded pl_beerbowl, to see what you were talking about, and it's a really cool map, completely unrelated to my map plans...
Does this look better (more drill-like) ?

Kinda like a fracking drill to me. It looks realistic to me, which is fine, but I don't think it looks particularly awesome, which is the main problem. I'm not convinced changing the style of the bit would help that though. Perhaps seeing it used in a neat animated sequence might.

Although Seba's drill design is very cool-looking and might fit tf2's style better, it seems to be used almost only in sci-fi overscaled drill vehicles (1, 2). My cart is much smaller, and will not be used for tunnel excavation (because that will make the cart even slower, and the fps probably even worse than if the players will get pinned to the drill), but for making a hole in some huge toxic cemicals tank, water dam or other important enemy facility. Also, considering this is my first model, I prefer to go with the simpler design, which is the bottle-opener one.

A screenshot won't really show off what I'm working on since they are just gameplay concepts. Here is my attempt at drivable vehicles in TF2. Might just make a new Mario Kart map with them.
EDIT: If you're wondering why the sniper's van drives into the skybox it's because I was using it to test the effect of the phys_thruster. For some reason the props veer to the right when they should be moving straight. Though my version avoids that problem.
