You can make 0, 1 or 2 maps, it's your choiceSo, do we have to enter on both weekends? Or can we only make one map if we wanted to?
You may enter both weekends once each. You may not work on the same project for both weekends - each weekend must be a separate, contained project you worked on only within the given time.

If you're worried about time, don't forget that MangyCarFace and Acegikmo did KotH maps in 4 hours. 7.2hrs is a lot of time.

Note: This was just after Yukon, Mangy's first official map, was added to the game.
"Hm, three hours left, might as well start detailing my map!"
Mangy and Ace are both fantastic designers. Super analytical and super creative. Argueably two of the best TF2 mappers to come through TF2M and two of the few designers who could make a good map in a very short amount of time.
(For a "where are they now" thing. Acegikmo is designing one of the most highly anticipated VR games, Budget Cuts.)
I nearly died when I saw Budget Cuts mentioned. I've played through the demo many times, and I'd consider it a master class in level design. It just does so many things right, and displays an extreme amount of polish for such an early alpha. I can't wait for the full version.
For additional reference, the Budget Cuts team was invited to work on their project at Valve HQ.
Yup. And Joachim wrote an article on Portal-based Teleportation recently that's very good: https://medium.com/neat-corp/the-design-of-the-portal-locomotion-2677f3b3f9b5#.j7t7r3hsc
(Now we're offtopic. My bad)
I'm going to put "fancy logic" in with other custom content for consistency's sake - yes, you can, but you must publically release it before the first weekend.
