or wait for the next mode that should pop up in a few weeks
How about no?

If I can use the PLR, A/D CTF contest as an example, using a new mode can be a bitch because no one knows how it works and the contest ends up taking ages to finish the contest.

Look I just want something thats going to be interesting without being frustrating.

I am 100% sure that this falls under the gimmick category nicely and frankly its not something I would ever want to see as a major contest but as a mini contest maybe.

People will be able to figure out how it works if it works.
Also, there weren't many valve maps for a/d ctf when the contest was announced.

As a new-mapper with a map already in development, and will probably stay there, but i have learned a lot making it...

I would love to be able to do a smaller map design contest, like a 3 stage A/D or pl, or plr... I could think of just with pl/plr a ton of things that would be fun and interesting (at least in my mind)

TC, 3Stage CP and 3Stage PL would take FOREVER to do. You thought PLR and A/D CTF were bad in terms of contest length?

I wouldn't mind KotH, though. Not 5CP, and not "comp". No "comp". Ever.

Though single-stage PLR would be interesting... if not a retread of the previous contest. I dunno what else there is to do, except maybe single-stage A/D CP.

I wise someone or other once said that server admins hate multi-stage maps. Are you sure that even considering those maps are a good idea? I quote, "... it's just three rounds of ragequitting."

Don't get me wrong, I love A/D, but...

For bias reasons I would recommend single stage A/D, but the artpass contest already stole that.

I would love to see another mini-detailing contest such as the control point contest. Last time we had that coldfront was born :p

Hey, I've got a map that could use some detail. Got 8 points (2 round A/D), but either people could pick one of them, or it could be an "only detail this one."

Hm, it's iron TPG says what he said. I actually was hoping for another gimmicky gametype, but I see the appeal of a standard one as well. My only request is that the next contest begins in the next month/month and a half or so, I'd love to get to work on it!

A/D CP or Koth contest would be nice, we had some big contest with new gamemodes now, and it would be nice to have something relaxing for change.

Gravelpit style A/D, tell Valve that it's a valid gamemode.

A/D in whatever way you want (stages, single-stage, gravelpit-likes, gorge-likes, dustbowl-likes, steel-likes) would be fun and open for a little more creativity.

You could always use more A/D =3
That does seem to be one of the more popular game modes.

I personally like the idea that the map doesn't have to be symmetrical, symmetry in a map kinda ruins it for me.

Also, you should specify CAPTURE POINT A/D, because technically Payload is also a form of attack/defend, if not the way we know it (and I think it should specifically be capture point A/D, because if we include payload as an a/d option, it will become a gamemode-popularity contest instead of a mapping contest)

Also consider narrowing down which possibly attack/defend variants are open for use, because just like with payload, inclusion may turn it into a popularity contest of gamemodes, not maps.

Total options are...
MSCP
SSCP
A+B=C OR variants (A+B+C=D, etc.)
Assisted Control Points (like Steel, where you have one specific goal with helpful additions)
Misc/Other
(did I miss anything?)

I'm worried about MSCP in general, but I already voiced that concern elsewhere.
It would be feasible to group SSCP with A+B=C (and variants), as well as grouping Assisted Control Points with Misc/Other. Those at least seem to me like the best groupings, if we were going to do a generic "A/D Control Point" contest.

I'm for a KOTH contest. But maybe with some special rules, like make a map with a lot of vertical gameplay elements, or maybe a multi stage koth like decadence (3 maps, a koth for each map) yeah territorial KOTH :D.
