To be honest, most of the decisions made by Valve that are supposed to have "evolved" TF2's personality have only pissed off the large majority of its fan base. Reward systems for checking the blog and getting limited edition ingame items through the announcements (or just limited edition items in the first place) have pissed more people off than they have pleased.
First hats pissed off dedicated players (due to the random drop system and drop rate (which was later increased)), then idler/Halo's practically cut the community in half (many suggested that idlers should have got devil horns to compensate the harsh double punishment since the offence by players and punishment of the players were directly related to the lack of hats and the ramification was removal of idled hats/gear and reward to non idlers of yet another, and unique at that, hat), the drop system has frustrated more than a handfull of players regarding the non achievable weapons, even most of the weapon buffs/nerfs have had more of a negative impact than otherwise; look at how long it took them to fix the sandvich, bonk and the sandman, even the flamethrower and backburner seem to have gone from one extreme to the other; The Direct Hit and the Equaliser still need balancing... I know changes can only be made when the additional data comes in but who the hell are they getting this data from? Seriously... It's like they're playing a completely different game with whacky player testers from god knows what planet.
