so they have to addmore items to keep customer playing to try to get them.

If you play TF2 just to get items, you're doing something wrong.

Similarly, if a company adds new items just so people will continue playing it, they are doing something wrong.

I'm not entirely sure what your point here is, but I'm going to assume you're saying people who don't like tf2's updates can just play another game.

I can't really get worked up about any changes to tf2, really. I think the one thing I really didn't like was the store. I can understand why people would be pissed off about all the new weapons and hats, because they really aren't balanced at all and look horrible, but none of the recent ones have seriously changed the way I play the game.

That being said, most of the newer items are terrible in some way, and just telling people to go play something else if they don't like it is a dumb thing to say. People don't like the newer things because they have issues, and for some people it's seriously ruining their enjoyment of a game they love.

What I don't like? That is a very small list which can apply to any game: people below twelve that think they are cool because they got their hands on an M rated game and annoy the hell out of anyone making a game not fun, and the avatar submission on the contribute site. Other then that I think the question is what do I like about TF2. It is an Fps for one thing that revolves around 9 classes that are outfitted to do specific jobs and with each update adds a new and more challenging element to the game without making it no fun. The main fact that VALVe actually listens directly to the consumer is one thing game companies seem to over look making this game automatically different then most of the games out there which rely on the developer to update and maintain it. It is essentially a living experiment that lets the people choose the outcome of it and so far it has done really well, giving money and perks to independent artists and contributers who love the game. But you could also hate these aspects believing that a game shouldn't be tampered with and that playing the same thing over and over again with no changes is fun, that's why there are games like COD or Halo that take little to no input from the community and release very few updates that usually rehash old material. But as for me I'll stick with having updates that may or may not work or some weapons that I don't use or that I get killed by all the time or even maps that are sometimes bland. But that is the whole fun of it, trail and error, experimentation and thats what makes TF2 ultimately unique.

I'm glad to see people who resent complaints about this game have such a depth of wit to respond with "Threads like these." while pointing the finger and calling the rest of us whiners.

If you read the original post you'd see most of my points are backed up anyway. The hats look out of place and create visual spam. The new weapons not only unbalance the game but go against a core design principle that underlied the class system which was that as soon as you saw any class you knew exactly what you were dealing with. Nowadays you don't know what weapon an enemy has on them until they shoot you with it. This is frustrating for the player and should have been avoided. Plus a lot of the new weapons cause lots of visual spam.

But...obviously since I'm on a TF2 site I don't hate the game that much. The updates haven't ruined the game by any means, but it isn't as good as it used to be. When it came out TF2 was a refined work of 9 years. Now it's a refined work that has been spoiled somewhat by hasty and poorly thought out additions.

It's worth mentioning some of the new weapons work quite well as alternatives, and I think the Engineer and Pyro had flaws in their design to begin with, so their updates worked quite well. But overly I think it's a worse game than it used to be. But it's still fun, so whatever.

Are damn that reminds me.

1) The achievements system.
2) Number crunching achievements
3) Achievements that encourage you to play stupidly (ie three melee kills with Heavy in a row)

Class updates were the best part of TF2! Waiting to see what new items you were getting, achievement farming with friends to get them as quickly as possible, and then playing a class that counters the update until people calm down.

Also the weapons were less stupid I guess.

Crafting was fine before trading was implemented, but now that it is the only worthwhile thing to craft is metal.

6). Competitive players telling me how to pyro when dey don't know how to in the first damn place.

Otherwise the game is cool. Even you, scouts. Even you.

promotional items suck, yep.

But in all seriousness, everything since the Polycount pack has started the "TF2 dying cycle"
It's pretty annoying.
- By this I mean Valve are going to keep adding shit randomly, no structure like class updates, until the games gets overloaded and dies. :(

If you find that conference with Gabe, that TPG linked us to, he even admits that TF2 is just Valve's testing ground. - Proof Valve don;t care about TF2 anymore. - Or not how they used to anyway. >:C

You really think I don't have any problems with this game? HAH

The art style is dead, a bunch of weapons are unbalanced, (FoS), fucking hats everywhere, and the community at large is not exactly all that smart. But know know what, oh fucking well. I play this game to have fun and if you let some dumb hats get if the way of your fun so be it. Everyone has problems with this game but I just chose to put them on the backburner so I am have a good time rather that bitch and wine about how the game is "ruined"

This thread is horrible because its only goal is to let people toss shit at Valve all day long without any consequences. You want to make this a good thread? Well not only give your complaints but WHY you feel that way and HOW you think it should be fixed.

So we should hate something without doing any research on it or bothering to make a proper case for what we think? What are we, Fox News?
