As you can see from the screenshots, the water in my map wont render.

Before you respond:
  • I have no leaks
  • I did run my compile log through Interlopers and it gave me this:
You have entered a skybox texture which doesn't seem to be valid. Make sure you don't specify the last three letter (_UP, _DN, etc) of any skybox texture you use. You may also need to fix your vmt files if they are broken. It may also be caused by compiling a non-HDR skybox texture.
And changing the skybox texture didn't change anything.
  • I only have one water brush.
  • Only the top has the water texture and every other side is nodraw
  • The water is flat
  • I am in dx8 but there are cubemaps are present so that shouldn't be a problem
  • The water texture is water/water_well
  • The brush is a world brush.

What skybox are you using?

A lot of this seems narrowed down but I would ask you to move the pool of water somewhere else or completely remaking it in a different location to see what effect that would have. This may be something visleaf related.

By any chance, do you have a sky_camera entity inside the main map? I remember another user having this problem before, and it turns out it was because he placed his sky_camera in the main map instead of the 3D skybox where it belongs.

My solution is a bit stupid but It happened to me one time. Do you have a water_lod_control entity? One time I forgot to put it in and the water did not render.

vbsp is supposed to put that in for you. But it doesn't hurt to manually add it.
