I am planning on making a 3D model, but my 3D modeller of choice does not have the ability to bake shadows. Is there someone willing to assist me with that, when the time comes?

Will "Dynamic CP" maps also be played on testing servers?

Assuming you're not doing anything so dynamic as to break the servers, then sure!

I'm planning on making a map in the 72 hours, probably just something simple because I'm new and making a map in 72 hours will be challenging enough. Can I make custom textures for the map before the time period starts? I would assume so, but it wasn't explicitly stated in the FAQ.

Are "Player Destruction" Maps eligible for Playtesting on the mentioned servers?

Yes.

I assume building a map to get proportions right beforehand and then starting again from scratch on the 10th is allowed?
Is the pre-build map allowed to be tested though?

It seems a little counter to the spirit of things to test a map and then start again for the event.

Feel free to block something out and run around in it yourself, sure. A test sounds like a long stretch though (you can test in your 72 hours, there'll be multiple imps throughout the weekend)

I'm probobly going to pull back and do a small SFM short or poster instead this time around because of my work hours, a full-on map might kill me even if I skipped sleeping.

I feel even blocking out and even putting in the actual work before the time starts is a bit against the whole idea, too, though. Like, you can sketch things out on paper and such, and mentally prepare and all that, but I feel in the spirit of things, you shouldn't be touching Hammer for your entry until the timer starts.

Like it says in the OP and FAQ: you can plan, but you can't start.
