Every recent jam, I click "new posts" and just get totally overwhelmed by the huge list of stuff, most of which has no thumbnails or pictures of any kind.

Pro tip -- you want your stuff to be seen, include screenshots or images!

Most people just aren't going to click a post with no images when there's so many being done every hour, so if you want your stuff seen during such busy events, include some pictures!
