You know, given that the Thanks button is used as a Like button some of the time anyway, maybe "appreciate" would be a more fitting verb, since it could basically mean either but would be clear from the context. I don't know why I didn't think of it sooner. So maybe the button (oh yeah, can we get the Thank and Reply links rethemed to look like buttons? The way they are makes them look almost like non-interactive text) would say "I Appreciate This".

Is there a way to update the resource (map) thumbnail? The main one you see with a avatar attached, i can't seem to edit my image there.
It's the "resource icon" check box when creating a new resource and to the side after it is created:

What about the Downloads section from the old site with all the custom textures and such? I take it that's all jumbled around in the Resources section of the forums? Or is it lost forever?

EDIT: Yes, it's in Resources (thank god), I am a dumbass.
We're going to be migrating things over by hand :<

Why does it say people you follow instead of friends?

Looks nice but for some reason I can't post any replies in the TF2 news forum, it just says "(You have insufficient privileges to reply here.)" at the bottom of any of the posts there.

Is this the "new" or the "old"?

Other things that bug me, in no particular order:
  • Switching to the BBCode editor removes the buttons, including the one that toggles between the two types of editors, compensating by awkwardly dumping a link at the bottom. I don't suppose there's any way to just make it toggle how posts appear in the text area without changing anything else?
  • All avatars are forced into the same size. We have quite a few users with tiny avatars thanks to a former restriction on non-veteran, non-donators, and I don't really see a point to such a procrustean approach.
  • On a related note, the whitespace to the left and right of avatars is part of the link. I realize that's because the HTML for the link encompasses the entire avatar/username zone and you'd have to break it into two separate ones to fix this, but... could you? Please?

The "Thanked by" bar on the bottom of a post should be bigger. The letters are puny.

Also, no more "Thanks given" stat? But why? Why would you not allow people to show how thankful they are?

So, I followed the instructions on how to make my map work on the new forum. But the original thread that allready existed for my map wasn't updated even though I put the thread ID on the first line of the description. Instead, it created a new thread for my map? Is this intentional, or am I just missunderstanding something? I usually have a hard time understanding information that isn't overly clear and that realie/relie/relly on common sense to be understood. I'm pretty sure I did follow the instructions, but...
Original thread ID: 25292
The thread that was created in addition to the original: 151

You need to upload your map into the "Import Queue" categeory to suppress the creation of a new thread if one already exists. Us staff are going through the input queue assigning maps to their old threads this way.

I believe you did it correctly. #151 was the resource ID, which is completely separate. I attached the previous discussion and put your map in it's correct category: http://tf2maps.net/resources/rivermelt.151/

I imagine the avatar resizing was a feature of the import. I'm in favour of the uniform dimensions, and don't think the resized images look ugly. I think the idea of uneven avatar sizes throughout a thread is a little odd.

I'm in favour of changing Thanks to Likes or an equivalent, as it's used for showing appreciation the same amount as it is used in cases where thanks could be considered genuine. We have adopted Followers, it's time to move with the times and copy everyone else.

Thanks for switching out the forum software. Please provide ample Resource categories so that the new database of resources is as best organised as it can be.

I'm off to bed now. Before anyone asks, I'll be adding the extra categories for the resources section (Textures/Models etc) tomorrow.
