There's just one problem with that...

I got the rug pulled out from under me. That's not fun, and it's not fair.

It was done because we felt that it was better for the community as a whole, not just 1 single person, or in this case, a few other single people. We apologize that you feel that's not fun or not fair, but we feel this change is for the better.

Well, not really, but when I got that banner, I felt really proud of myself, and I felt I got far. Saying I'm NOT that far anymore and taking it off is just plain annoying, and offputting.

It's unfortunately a thing that has to happen to change any system. If you were really proud of that title based on post count only, that's a good motivation to give high quality feedback and posts to work on your thanks. That'll be an even bigger accomplishment than before.

Be the change you wanna see - don't like joke posts, and encourage others to do the same.

You have other options too - making threads for new models/textures, useful prefabs, tutorials, etc. You know, contributions to the community that are more than just map feedback.

Custom Titles & Large avatars are both a perk to being in the Veteran group. Titles were automatically wiped, avatars weren't touched, so count yourself lucky on that one.

I mean yeah, I'm upset about the title more than anything. But yeah, I do want to help people out with mapping, and recently I wanted to start taking more steps to do such.

I'm going to honest, you shouldn't be upset about the title because it's not something you've earned. The title isn't my idea so I can't be 100% sure on this, but I'm confident it's intended for seasoned mappers who have been here for several years, rather than newer ones who're still on their feet.

What I gathered from the staff meeting is that the bar has been raised simply because people can spam posts on the site and get a minimal amount of thanks for the title.

^^all of this. I've mapped for 3 years and I don't really consider myself a veteran, that just makes me feel old. I don't think age and knowledge of mapping have much to do with each other for me only for the sake of me still having a lot to learn. Hell I've made like what 3 maps I think? I don't consider them quality but I consider them a bit better than half the things I see on gameday from time to time. I don't know how you go about rewarding someone for being old and I'm surprised anyone would be upset about not being called old so I think it's best to just keep learning and testing regardless.

I've been here for almost 3 years, I hardly post on the site and because of that I've never really "ranked up" myself on the forums. Frankly, being able to become a veteran just by putting out posts as fast as possible doesn't sound like a good system. I'm glad it is being changed to be reflective of a poster's appreciation.

Also, the fact that you say I shouldn't be upset about it because it's not something I've earned is just silly. It was there for the fun of it, not because I worked myself really hard to get it. I'm upset because it said so much more about me than "lvl 6: respected member"

Okay, I'm gonna be even more honest here, everyone is tired of your shit-posting around here. If you spent more time on your maps and actually learnt about mapping rather than doing it just for the thanks on the forum from the people who felt sorry for you then you might actually get respect and actually deserve the title. -Snip because irrelevant-

Thirdly, no one gives two craps if you have a little title below your name or a special colour because it's about what you're actually posting and not how many overused memes are below your name. So how about being quiet about losing something you didn't deserve, getting your head down and actually improving at mapping so you can actually earn that crap you've been whining about for the last fifty pages.

Edit: This incredibly harsh, but the truth isn't always nice. To put it nicer, just post less and spend more time on your maps trying to make them the best they can rather than rushing them "for the glory".

The new updates are really nice, good job staffs! Its nothing over the top but its sort of a HD Remaster which is nice, the site is nice a fresh whiles still feeling the same. Also thanks for not changing the brownness its really nice as it doesn't blind me during late nights.

Also the new veteran system is nice, it rewards people who have been helpful/ produced good content (Yes there are ones from joke posts) but to get enough you cant just be making joke posts it does come from producing real content too, instead of the post counting from before. I'd say if you could get peoples years of activity would be another thing as well? maybe another medal for that or something, might start getting confusing with all these different stuffs.
Also Purple is so nice for staffs I WANNA BE PURPLE! (or blue!)
