Heh. He changed it. It definitely was Badwater before. It was even Badwater when I checked, which was after your post. Also the name of the map is in the title of the page. It literally says "Dustbowl kill cloud"
Yeah, it was Badwater. Changed it to Dustbowl to post it on Reddit (which sadly didn't make it to the front page). No promises, but I'm hoping that at some point after exams (maybe during the 72hr) I'll be able to incorporate it into the main heatmaps.tf UI, and perhaps rewrite the heatmap shader so it works with threejs (i.e. you could have isometric heatmaps or whatever).
It's reddit. So many factors go into whether or not a post 'makes' it: time of day that you post it, day of the week you post it, how much the people already knew they wanted the thing you're posting, how much the people didn't know they wanted it, how much effort it takes to appreciate it, roll of the dice, zodiac signs, etc. It's really just a total crapshoot.
Agreed. I posted about the duck pond and it got removed. a week later someone posts about their new community, got to the front page and stayed there. Posts were virtually identical.
Badlands is up now. Crtl+F5 if it doesn't auto-refresh. Sadly the data is rather sparse in comparison to badwater, 2fort and Dustbowl. But you still get the gist. The latest reddit post for heatmaps.tf (as a whole) garnered some interest from TF2Center for inclusion over there, so that might happen at some point.
Wow, that's awesome. Like stars in the night sky. I'd totally cross-post this to r/dataisbeautiful if I knew what a reddit was.
Another problem is that reddit has a large portion of mobile users, which means anything posted there really has to work on phones to get upvoted. I haven't made any mobile controls for the pointcloud thing yet, will probably do that later on.
Just passed 20m kills logged Also, for those that haven't been in chat when I've mentioned it, this is also going to be the subject of my Bachelor's level dissertation at University.
I got this error: Error Detected: ErrNetwork We're sorry, but we've encountered a network error while communicating with the heatmaps.tf API. Error Details: API responded with status 502 This error is fatal. Please try again later. What do I do?
