I was thinking of doing just that. I don't know if I can make it in time though. Only one way to find out I guess.
I'm gonna be clever and do CTF, possibly with competitive play in mind.
I'm going to be bold and go for multistage A/D.... I'm itching to start it.

I've been having a bit of an issue with the VAC servers not being contacted and disconnecting me. So it might be a bit difficult for me to do this contest as I won't be able to compile and look at my map along the way. So that would be obnoxious.
I may still try, though, if it doesn't get fixed before the contest.

I thought you could still compile and load up your map? Isn't that how it works in offline mode?

Every time I load up my map it kicks me off because it can't connect to VAC. I haven't tried in offline mode, though.

Nope, now I cannot connect to steam. Get an error message that Steam could not connect to the Steam Network. :|
Edit: And it's connecting again. :| Wtf steam, wtf.
Edit 2: Still kicks me off in offline mode. This is bizarre.

i thought restarting steam fixed it

it just gives you another chance at a slot - there are simply too many guys on steam atm
