Well, it's easier to have to compress areas than to widen them out once you've already built this whole big area. You'll have to move some things around to make an area bigger but if you want to make it smaller you can just add more brushes.

I know this isn't a WIP but my graphics card suddenly started working again for no reason, an I almost cried when I saw this map in high settings:

uh, for the twist, i'd say just don't have it at all since no one would ever get close enough to really see it

It's a spy knife. He'll litterally have it shoved up his nose for people with lov viewmodel fov. I'd say it'll be very much visible.

Reverse Skybox maybe? Most of the map is in the skybox area, and then there is this area in the center of the map, with the sky camera aligned with the table?

That's not gonna happen. For many reasons.

Wow.

I really don't like this. It's stupendously dark, very grey except for patches of extreme saturation in colours that don't gel well together into a cohesive colour pallet.
It works ok in the day time because the colours are all unified a bit by the environemnt light and fog, but here they're just a visual mess.

I agree it could use some lighting on the higher areas of the map, but I think whoever made this (Aly?) did a good job keeping the ground lit up.

The roofs don't need to be lit, players never look up there anyways. No one but mappers will ever notice it.

Only issues I see is the pink and green trees clash.

Maybe that is because we expect too much of it? In a normal dark town roofs arent lit either. Why in tf2 is it even needed if you cant walk on it?

Only if you can walk on it, then it needs light to make players aware you can. Without lights players are going to assume you cant walk on it which is exactly what you want in that case.

Where in normal maps details near doors and such make players aware you can go to that area, in dark areas its simply light that does that job since most props are less visible. Even in a bright map using a diffirent light tint for indoor areas shows information.

Floating wheel technology! Woo!
I hope you dont break any patents for that :p

Still, you could call it 'Elephant with floating dish technology' to fool them so they wouldnt think it to be on a vehicle.

It's the closest prop I can find to the similar thing on this one other picture, lol

And I'm not making that out of brushes, that would be insane.

You could probably just clip an 8 or whatever sided sphere in half (not carve!) and people wouldn't take much notice. Then later on you could probably just model it in or spend a little more time on the brushwork with it (just don't forget to func_detail it)

I actually func_detailed everything because I plan to put a world brush nodraw inside ofit if I put it into my map.

How's that PSA go? "When you play with pirated software, you're playing with Satan" or something like that.
