something something existential dread

Explore the wreckage of a partially collapsed and long-since abandoned mining facility.

My entry for the TF2Maps 2020 72-Hour Jam, finished, compiled, and submitted with 12 hours remaining.

There's plenty more stuff that could be done, but I'm running out of time and energy, and I'm satisfied with the amount of progress I've made thus far, so I'm calling it here. I genuinely enjoyed working on this; it's been far too long since I've sat down with Hammer and just... made a map. This was genuinely refreshing to work on. It's not up to the level of completeness or quality I would have liked to achieve (the lighting could use a proper touch-up, there's no 3D skybox, perhaps I could use more props than just the generic Hydro barrel crate, etc), but I'm still quite proud of this, and I hope you enjoy exploring it as much as I enjoyed making it.

The concept was largely an excuse to use rotated instances, because I felt like it and cool-looking offgrid geometry is cool. A good amount of inspiration for the structure of the building was taken from Idolon's entry for the 2018 High and Low detail contest, which is a fantastic detail map that you should also check out.
