TF2Maps.net Mapping Assignment Frenzy

Hello and welcome to the first assignment frenzy event thread. I don't want to confuse people here, so I'll be very blunt and straightforward:

• Not a competition (in the fashion you're used to)
• No prizes (Depending on how the event progresses, this might change)
• It's for fun and practice. Challenge yourself.
• You may participate in any number of assignments you like. Participation is not an obligation under any circumstances.

Okaaay, now that your expectations have reached rock bottom, I can proceed to explain what's going to happen. Don't worry, it's very simple:

• Assignments will be handed out regularly.
• Each one will come with it's own specific rules and limitations.
  
  The limits will vary greatly depending on the scale of the assignment​
• The time limit will be harsh, but not extremely so, I don't want to completely exclude people just because their personal schedule doesn't match. Still, be prepared.
• There will not be a submission thread. Instead you will submit your work to me (Ravidge) through forum PM (private message). More specifc info for submitting will be available in each of the assignment threads.
• A vote thread will open after each assignment with a multi-option poll, listing all entries. Select your favorites. (downloads and screenshots will be available too of course)
• All the entries that managed to place in the top 33%* will get 1 point. The #1 entry gets 2 points.
  
  If first place is tied between 3 or less entries, each of these gets 2 points. If first place is tied to 4 or more entries, no one gets 2 points.​
  If the cutoff point at 33%* is unclear due to tied scores; All entries tied will receive 1 point, as long as the point receiving subset is <50% of the number of entries. If larger than 50%, none of the tied entries receive any points.​
• There will be 10 assignments in total this time. (unless it turns out to be a crap event. I will spare everyone and just end it instantly)

*it's not always possible to divide the number of entries into thirds (33%), the closest approximation will be used in these cases.

If the first assignment is "make a good <complex game mode here> layout in 3 hours", that probably won't do though

Seems people are eager to see what the hell is actually going to happen, that's good.
Well, the first assignment is fairly basic (I think) just to get the concept started, after that, the tasks will hopefully vary a great deal, so if you don't like the first one, the next assignment might suit you better.

To be super honest, it's more of a platform where I can throw in small "contest" ideas without having to worry too much each assignments depth, possibilities, fairness, or success. Some stuff is just impossible to run as stand-alone contests (mostly due to various sorts of unfairness) and seeing that kind of thing as an assignment is a possibility.
I'm going to try my best to provide fun experiences all around, and hopefully people will take the challenges when I hand them out, but at the same time I'm sure there will be low-points and high-points, something to discuss afterwards perhaps.
