If it actually turns out that there isn't enough time to get sufficient testing to balance waves and layout then I'm pretty certain that is grounds for an extension. We're not demons who hate fun, we're just filling the available slots in our event schedule and we honestly think that the allotted time should be enough for creative, high quality MvM maps. So WHEN and IF it becomes clear that we misjudged the timeframe for this event, we can talk about extending the time. Until then, do your best to finish on/before the set deadline. Don't forget that collaborations is a option for this contest, so if you're short on time, maybe teaming up with someone is a viable solution.
I am surprised I didn't notice this D: Should be something to kill the time ... just have to figure out what I am doing with the enities :3
I'm actually up for collaborating on this with anyone if they want to... I'm realizing that trying to wrap my head round MvM mechanics is rather frustrating (even worse with a splitting headache and illness). Hopefully looking to get into the detail side of things if anyone is crap at that.
I wouldn't mind doing some detailing if someone needs some done. I'm best with interiors. See signature for my resume. I'd prefer someone who's very serious about their map.
Same for me, I can help if someone need help to finish his map, it doesn't matter about your level. But as I said only if you need help to release the map fully detailled, I don't have the time for a full coop.
I'd be more than happy to help someone What I can do - I have great ideas for a map - I have ideas for detailing. - I can design the waves - I can provide great feedback What I can't do - Actually build the map (I stink at hammer). - Do the detailing I'm still learning, but I'm eager to get involved with hammer. If someone who's good at building maps is still looking for a basic map outline or a wave designer, contact me!
Helllllllo nurse I'd be up for that if you want to. I can't figure out a good plan/layout to start off with.
Can I ask if we're allowed to use things like mvm.tf to make population files, or do they have to be hand-written?
Why the hell does that site use the TF2 font for everything D: But yes, you're allowed to use external wave generators.
Woo this could be fun! Time to see if I can bang out a terrible layout and iterate it into not terrible as ever just by the bell. Leaving a buggy but eyecandy-ish mess! The prizes have gone fully into being digital giveaways though, I always liked the ideas of the tf2 keyrings. Lost in the royal mail black hole somewhere in Manchester no doubt.
REMINDER: The contest ends February 18th! You have a little less than a month! Anyone can still start and finish an MVM map in that time--they are small and simple by nature.
Was just starting to think about what one would consider to be an "excessive" filesize. Any hints there?
For normal maps excessive is around 70MB and up; for MvM it shouldn't really go near that, even if you're sticking all of ConPack in there.
