The most downloaded tf2 workshop item for sfm is "suburbia" tf2 styled homes. One thing I noticed is tf2 has a lack of indoor related items when it comes to a home. I've compiled all models (that I could find) that are furniture into one folder, and I plan on adding to it with my own models. My goal is to be able to fully furnish the homes of suburbia. For now I'm focusing on the furniture, and not things such as wall clocks, picture frames, table settings etc... I've spent a few days trying to pin down the words to describe the art direction tf2 has. I would say 50% Hanna-Barbera 40% Venture Brothers 10% Grunge I know TF2 takes place mid 60s to early 70s but nothing they use could be described as "state of the art" so for certain things I may go back to late 50s in the design. So if you have related requests, ideas, lists, or just want to help. feel free. Try to post reference images if you can. This is going to be fun. I enjoy making models. not quite done with texturing the face. but everything else is finished. its fully rigged with blendshapes for lipsync.
That would be nice, maybe you should check this to make it to ''TF2 Style'' https://polycount.com/discussion/73559/texturing-for-team-fortress-2-a-short-guide View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1W8BZPf-N8
thanks, ive already seen it. I believe why the cosmetics got so "developed" as the video put it. is because the art in tf2 is timeless. if you didn't know anything about tf2 there would be no way to tell what time period it takes place in. I want to keep it that way with this. and im going to be honest here. I havn't played tf2 in a long time. I don't know the first thing about hammer, sfm, or any of that stuff... I just love modeling and love the tf2 art style. I'm like that with a lot of things. For example the way I learned about MGS is through finding pictures of Yoji Shinkawa's art. I love his art! still only played MGSV though.
stove top oven is now fully modeled and UVed. If anyone wants to help with texturing or anything let me know so I can give u the file.
ok, I'll add it to the list. here is what I have so far Ill update periodically https://drive.google.com/open?id=1NKRp5yohgdzTcRcEzO-7bkBtkY_cbu0s Is anyone else interested in modeling/texturing with me?
For those kitchen counters, I would actually recommend just making the drawer/cabinet door configurations and letting people attach them to appropriately-sized brushwork, kind of like how the office desk comes without a top. And then maybe including a "zoo" VMF with a sample of said brushwork already included.
yeah im making them modular so you can switch up which cabinets are on which end. maybe someone will have the knowhow to organize them into bodygroups. this is what I have so far. its all UVed as well
I've already shown you the stovetop oven today I remade the sink, added a corner cabinet, redid the UVs so applied textures will display seamlessly, even patterns. still need to tweek the UVs for the counter tops though. Almost had it done, but maya crashed I've also started working on cupboards. shouldn't take as long. as I only need 3 types. after that because models already exist for fridge, and even a microwave. TF2 kitchen furniture should be DONE! (with modeling)
heres what i have so far. I may just trash the couch, not sure if I like how it turned out. besides, its the only thing that still needs to be UVed.
I know but the topology and UVes are messed up. I can do better, Ill either make it again from scratch or edit the hell out of this one.
I've also been planning on making some indoor office / home themed asset packs. If I get the time I might help out. Have you made any progress on the textures for any of these?
I know how to do everything in the pipeline. its just have a passion for modeling. Plus in my previous TF2 model endevors, texturing has always been a road bump for me. Not that I don't have the resources, its just getting everything to match the aesthetic is more of a challenge for me. plus all the guesswork for normalmaps and spec maps is always annoying. I too was planning on eventually making a home office, as there was already an office chair, some of the hospital and agent gunn assets would already fit nicely. here is the reference image I planned on using for things. again if you plan on helping and need any of the files just let me know, Ill send an updated google drive link
