A couple days ago we mentioned a "major project" we were working on that we promised to keep you updated on in the weeks and months ahead. Well, here's an update: It's done! Suck it, Valve Time.

That's right, folks. The Steam Workshop is live! What is it? An improved submission hub for community-created content that makes it easy for you to upload entries, check on their status and get feedback from us at Valve. Also, the TF community will be able to look at, comment on, and rate all item submissions in a single place.

Alright, gullywash is in the game, thats wonderful.
Modelers can submit models easily now, thats wonderful.

What about us mappers? When do we get an easier way to submit/publish our maps? eh?

This is the first time a TF2 update has made me even remotely upset.

(Also, pyro's birdcage is horrible)

EDIT: In my Pseudo-rage, i apparently misspelled many words.

also thought it was funny that modellers have made $2,000,000. mappers: $20

I love how the update made Steam crash.

Looks like some good stuff. Can't wait to try out all this shit.

this makes me depressed because i'm not special and valve hasn't bought anything from me

i want a hug

You could always ask Robin Walker, he buys hats to help people, so why not your map?

I'm pretty sure it's more than that. I mean, even awful broken maps that never get fixed like Hoodoo have sold at least 10k stamps.

Stamps that aren't hats or do anything.

May I ask what next? A hat within a hat within a hat within a hat WITHIN a hat? Hatception

Well, Theharribokid and yyler are apparently beautiful strong black women who don't need no man, for one thing.

And now, some comments on the patch notes:

  • Added a new item type that can accept user-applied decals. Take any image off your hard drive, put it on a stick, and then smash people with it! (See the Decal Tool in the store!)
This sounds a lot weirder than the update pages made it sound. I am perplexed and intregway'd.

  • New camera shake functionality added for replays that are not sufficiently dramatic
  • New slow-motion functionality added for replays where even camera shake does not provide sufficient drama
Oh you guys.

  • LOD models added to several older cosmetic items
  • Reduced the chance of many response lines occurring
Thank groodness.

  • Added additional Jarate hit responses
I can't wait to see what the Soldier's are.

  • Added a taunt for The Ullapool Caber
Must try.

  • Screenshots can now be hooked up to the Steam Community automatically. There is a new option to control this under "Miscellaneous" in the Advanced Options page.
I assume this means F5 screenshots can now connect with the Steam screenshot system or something? Awesomesauce.

  • Fixed demoman weapons primary/secondary being backwards in the loadout screen
Surprised they considered this a bug given how long it took them to notice it, but a welcome fix.

Also, does anyone know what the 187 megabyte Source SDK update was all about? I thought at first that they might have released more official map source files or props from the Meet the Team videos or something; is it all just to accommodate the engine changes?
