I wanted to release my Potted Poppy publicly, but I lost the .blend, so I thought I would just remake it.

Currently just flat colors on an AO bake, with some dirt texture for the soil. It'll have jiggle bones when done, and replace most the Pyro hats.

The pedals need to be closer together like in the original and the crack is too wide, no way that dirt is staying in there.

maybe you could make the crack a bit more appealing. not just one straight down cut. but a little crack here and a little crack there to help selling it as an actual crack ?

Well i was gonna suggest the opposite. Remove the crack's 3D work and just paint a crack on with some black/normal map.

If no one gets close enough to see it what's the point in having that much detail.

Maybe just have a notch in the rim at the top where it's more visually obvious/directly affects the siluette of the model, then use a black illustrative fork lighting-ish line work representing the continuation of the crack through the pot.
