I really like the Egypt map and its theme, however there are models for it i think people want made.
Right now i am working on making a Track for the Payload game mode that fits Egypt and its theme.

I have also planned to make a CTF Intel replacement in form of a Mummie Casket thingy and the last model in my list at the moment is a Cart replacement, if you have any ideas that can help me out please shout ;D

    whoa... that's pretty funky.

I like the look, but it doesn't fit very well with TF2's fiction.

tracks aren't "egypt" no matter how you texture them imo. logs would fit better (rolling across the top) or a very unique cobblestone road texture (only used on the path, darker than the egypt sand textures).

as for payload, I would suggest an obelisk on its side rolling on logs.

the problem with egypt themes is its hard to tie in spytech and make it work, the character models are spytech. If you could do it, you would win, but if you just want egypt I might suggest UT2004, they have characters that match the theme even.

    here's an idea: egypt's style doesn't fit in tf2 and it's overused

Is there any theme out there, not official, that does fit the TF2 theme?
If i put work into some models people want made i want them to have a theme that is accepted as "TF2-ish" and apparently that is not what Egypt is.
    Me models want to make!

I don't think it's that egypt doesn't fit the theme.

Spytech is like a knock off of James Bond flicks to a degree. Was it Diamonds are Forever that he was fighting 'Jaws' in a pyramid?

My point is that I don't think it shouldn't be used, but it needs to be used correctly. There's no reason TF2 has to always take place in Ohio or Arizona.
But none of the egypt maps have a spytech secret lair in them. All the spawns look like a tomb, etc...
The tombs/pyramids need to be a front and inside/under them needs to be spytech.

But I agree, the tracks are something that red /blu would have added after they got there, so they would've used wood ties, not stone.

So what is the exact look of the tracks that you think would fit the Egypt theme the best?
    Wood Ties, Stone Tracks?
or go for logs like really old stuff :p

No tracks would fit the egypt theme. Egyptians didnt have rail vehicles.

They're a smart bunch, they could do it in 2000 years.

To answer the original question, the default tracks should do fine. It would look weirder any other way.

A sarcophagus will be huge. Do some kind of team colored artifact, like a gem.

WAIT CUSTOM CONTENT?? DOESNT FIT LOL I DONT KNOW DIFFERENCE BETWEN SETTING AND THEME LOL

Egypt is not set in ancient Egypt, but in a excavation camp. That's why there's burning torches, wooden platform and mining equipment spread around. For tracks I'd imagine a more dusty, light wood but apart from that no differences.

If you're looking for an alternative theme, a lot of ice maps are making the custom scene.
