Can we all not talk without resorting to trolling? Just discuss the topic, don't flame it.

Thats a low blow Rexy. :p

imo, he cheated the system, he deserves to be banned.

By the same logic everyone who ever used DF's idler should be VAC banned, which is thousands of people.

I think Valve justified a VAC ban this time because it was only him involved. But it's funny how DF got kudos from Valve for coding the idler only then to get manually VAC banned for a social experiment of a similar level months later.

It seems they changed all the times and moved everyone back to fill in the empty spots. It's been pretty much confirmed that these times, while likely randomly predetermined, did not give everyone a change to get them at any time when they craft. It only gave a change to people who crafted at the specific time randomly determined.

I guess it's technically still random, but a different method would've been better, I think.

I think it's fair play that he got the wrench revoked, after all he did cheat to get it, whichever way you look at it. I'm not certain that I'd have gone so far as to VAC ban him, given that he's such a prominent figure in the TF2 community but hey, *shrugs* it's not my call.

WRT the times, You have no way of knowing what the times are, thus the odds are the same. If the times are truly random (or as close as a computer can get to random). Instead of it being a random percentage chance to craft a GW, it's a random percentage chance to craft at the correct time, and since those times are random it's 6 of one and half a dozen of the other. I couldn't really see Valve using any other method and still be able to guarantee that the drops would be fairly random and play out in a predetermined way, eg. 25 per day 75 in three days. That is a very structured distribution so there are very few ways to make that kind of distribution random at all.

ok this is just to set things straight

he cracked the code, im sure robin knew he knew about it since he gave DF his #

he had an outside program to craft and uncraft metal before the crafting server realized what had happened

he used the timing to get himself and his friends wrenches.

valves whole update revolved around this and he ruined it for not only them but the tf2 community

ban is just.

There was no code to break. The times for GW drops are predetermined, whoever crafts closest to these randomly generated times gets a GW. someone at Valve leaked the times and DF and a few others used the leaked times to craft their wrenches.

Not saying the ban is unjust, merely that he wasn't hacking to get the wrench when he received it, he was tipped off.

Playing the role of Mike Teevee wouldn't really get you past Valve.

He cheated the system, and we know how Valve has treated cheaters in the past.

Hint: not too kindly.

He had a program that could craft inhumanly fast. I heard it was around 7 times a second.

There was no code, there was a leak of all the drop times.

The second thing wouldnt make sense unless he completely emulated the craft server which would be ridiculous. He wrote a script that would smelt all his metal quickly. it didnt work once valve disabled the blueprint.

Yes he did use timing

Yes he violated the Rules of Steam Online Conduct
"You will not: Restrict or inhibit any other user from using and enjoying Steam services, software or other content. "

Yes his ban was just

Cyked, if I went over to your house, and punched you, would that qualify me for a VAC ban? Yes. I am stopping you from playing TF2, and therefore enjoying steam services. What if I went over and in a totally manly and non gay manner, started tickling you. Technically, I would be eligible for a VAC ban.

Just playing devils advocate here...
