For some reason, my map has big blue spots around it. Why is this happening?

But what is going on here? This did not happen to my other map named 5burg.
Can you post your compile log?

Whatever it is, it's not lighting. The problem persists when fullbright is enabled.

Full bright should not be enabled. I copped the light_evn over from big rock.

It's not your map, I enabled fullbright manually with the command mat_fullbright 1.

You might have the case of missing/corrupted game files. Did you validate the game cache already?

Unless both Muffin and I got corrupted files at the same exact time, which happens to only impact a single custom map, I don't think that's it.

See how the blue is made up of squares largely resembling lightmaps? This might just be his VRAD that crapped the bed in which case a validation of the game cache might do the trick.

I guess it's worth a shot, but as I noted above, the problem persisted even when fullbright was enabled, but only on props. I think VRAD took a hit as a result of the problem, but VRAD itself is not the source of the problem:

Okay, I will just have full bright on to temporarily fix the problem.

Looks like your have specular turned on for all your props/reflective surfaces, and they're all sharing the same, dark blue, cubemap.
So I should have more cubemaps?

Yes. All reflective objects will use their closest cubemap. If you have only one, then all of them are going to use that instead.
We're should I put them? Like around pits, objects, doors, points?

Uhm, but those props don't have any cubemap reflections... Is it really an issue of cubemaps? Or since when are wooden fences and doors made of shiny metal?

Wherever they're necessary. Water needs it's own cubemap, generally one per room, lighter and darker areas need seperate cubemaps.

Thanks for what? I was asking how cubemaps could fix the issue when the props which are blue don't have any cubemap reflections. So they can't reflect any blue cubemap.
But poot more cubemaps in your map anyway °3°
