So last night Flame was well being Flame and this time it was bitching about the contest. Naturally this sparked one hell of shit storm where several people were kicked from chat. A chunk of these are up for interpretation when it comes to if they were right or not. (Personally I think most of these were justified but that is not my place) This fallowed with Flame getting a swift boot from the Server Team.

Now I know Flame can be an abrasive asshole who loves to duke it out. However, he always can back up his arguments with more insight then most of us. In a way flame is the perpetual devil advocate. The one always bringing up and pointing out the problems. In a away he keeps the community from descending into a big circle-jerk of were even the slightest opposition is crushed.

Now this is BS because were would any of us be without arguments. Sure arguments can get really heated but at the same time they can bring something good out of it. "Just rolling with it" is the go ahead to the higher ups that they can give us anything and we will take it as law. (I am not going after anyone in particular here more so trying to give my take)

So should Flame be given back his powers? Personally I think he should because he helps with a 2nd dynamic that keeps things off a one track mind. However, it is not my place to decide what were Flame should go next. I will leave that up to you guys.

Exactly. He provides this service very well regardless of his position.

You're overthinking this. An officer or moderator of any kind should not troll and provoke the members they have control over (I am not talking specifically about this incident). They should show respect and understanding at all times, and deal with difficult members in other ways than shutting them out.

This was not the only reason why Flame was booted from the team.

There have been several complaints against Flame for bullying in the server and in the chatroom. Some i was present for, some i was not. Several complaints from several people for several seperate incidents.

Flame was taken onto the team in good faith. DrP did not even want him on the team because of the communities feelings about him, but i gave him the oppotunity to prove his worth because he had shown potential in the past.

I gave him a warning, but DrP felt that zero tolerance was the only way to allow the community to settle down/move on.

'sucks' is very subjective. it sucks for you because you dont do any mapping. you claim this contest will leave the community with a lack of any new custom maps.

so be it. this isn't some map assembly line. its a community for people who enjoy creating maps for team fortress 2. whether its detailing contests, full map contests, or creating maps in notepad.

Also, yes. You're helpful. But your attitude is a problem. I specifically mentioned this to you. You said you'd curve it.

Is your help worth the trouble? No. I dont hold anything personally against. I'm just trying to look out for something I and others have helped build the last 3 years.

I'd like to go one day without people running to an admin whining about how his opinions are different or how he hurt their feelings and should be banned.

Get over it and work out your own problems. Flame is a great resource on the competitive community and gives helpful feedback. Your loss if you'd rather cry about how you don't like his attitude rather than get over yourself and take advantage of what he offers to our community.

While i agree to a certain point, it's really not in the best interest of the entire community to just 'ignore' the big pink elephant in the room who is poking you in the back at every turn.

yes, Flame is helpful. yes, he does amazing things. but am i going to tolerate him running people off because of his attitude? no.

running people off? your biggest positives in this community are leaving one by one. I-D's lack of self awareness didnt overshadow the fact he always did things in an effort to help. I know for a fact I didnt drive off youme and shmitz either but now theyre gone too. Mangys not gonna have much of a home to come back to next month with them gone either. Icky got his map official and is now working on alien swarm mapping primarily or so he tells me (who knows how long the AS fad will remain)

also there is absolutely no reason why this contest needs to be associated with tf2m other than the fact zpq is a moderator. its not judged by tf2m, nor really hosted by tf2m, and it seems like you guys just happened to have a forum setup perfect for valve to use. also ask anyone whos tried to do testing this week, its blown.

also if by bullying you mean muting jakkarra after 10 people pm me asking me to than yeah im a bully.

I hardly see what you mean. I've been running my arena map on a near-full server at least thrice since this contest took off.

people are free to leave and map for other games. im not sure what you're point is.

So you're saying a contest dedicated to an important aspect of the entire mapping process should not be run by a community named TF2MAPS.net?

again, with the assuming. lets try and keep to the information we know something about.

Despite your usefulness as an admin, you often come off as a dick. Until you can control your attitude and stop ticking off users, you don't deserve the power you always ask for. You always get what you ask for because you cause everyone else to act irrational, and then you start a fight, and you make it seem like you're the right one.

The problem was not with you driving those particular users off, but the fact that your constant raiding of other users has promoted a strong dislike of you. Rexy, for example, became so pissed off that he totally left for a few months. I know several other users that despise your actions so much that they are thinking of leaving.

HOLY SHIT! TF2M STANDS FOR TF2 MAPS!? Believe it or not we're a mapping community that exists TO MAKE MAPS. Who cares who judges the contest, we're hosting it here. If you think Valve is running every part of it, where are their employees? Why are they not responding to you?

List all ten and then give a good reason that you muted him.

What he meant by that was that everyone is working on their detail maps instead of on their normal maps so there aren't enough maps / people for impromptu's / gamedays.

Am I the only who thinks that maybe Flame hates this contest because his 'good feedback' is completely useless since the layout is already spoken for, and therefore he has no way to worm his way into success's good graces?
