A slower charge time. I'm seeing fun with popping out from around corners instead of camping the battlements.

So pumped for the update, and from my last email from Robin Walker, that I'm going to make a second TF2 Crossword, better than the last. Only problem is that I have less content to work with since a lot was covered in the last one.

-Faster Charge (1 second charge)
-Pushback (similar to Scout's FAN)
-Low ammo reserves (18 shots)
-Projectile Arc (makes aiming at long range less viable. A stated design goal)

All in all, this wouldn't look as bad as the sandman so long as it doesn't actually stun you. It meets it's design goals very well.

Usually when they release these update info pages on the site, the update is only a week away. (Today is Tuesday. Update will be next Tuesday. This is the same for all prior updates)

Also note the severe lack of scope

Yeah, that are good assumptions. But I'm not sure if the bow gets a pushback effect. Sounds over the top.

My guess is that the Sniper can fully charge his shot and move with the charged shot at expense of his movement speed. Slow, but still faster than being scoped, though.

Anyone possibly consider that the map in the background is an alpine TC map? I'm highly doubtful, but it would be nice

Turns out that the new, darker sky is actually a bunch of snipers spamming into the air. Dang, now we'll never know what map it is!

(Kidding, of course)

If the arrows show up in cloaked spies, you'd still have to look for a bit to notice the arrow...

Arrows could just be a sniper counter to spies? You could fire an arrow at him from far away and remember that he has an arrow in him, then you wouldn't have to machete everyone around you, just people with arrows in them.

Eh, I really do not like the addition of stun weapons to TF2, the sandman really gets under my skin...

It's worded as though it doesn't stun, just headshots/kills will pin ragdolls to the nearest wall for comedic effect.

Someone on the steam forums got an email from Robin that confirms there is no stun effect. It will only pin ragdolls to the wall after they've been killed

If this thing can let you run-n-gun, I'm in love with it already

two main things Im wondering about...

the obsession with the sky...is there another pic somewhere? as the picture in the background of the sniper page is just a blurry blue...nothing to get really excited about

and the possibility of another weapon with knockback, already I miss the ability to melee scouts...


EDIT: that "there is no stun" update to the blog is hilarious

The fact that it's dark is exciting. It's not a typical TF2 light blue sky in the desert. It's DARK! And it's ALPINE! And it's (hopefully?) not arena.

<3 lack of stun.

Airblast, bonk, Natascha. TF2 doesn't need any more weapons that reduce player mobility. Agreed.

I'm dissapointed in the bow as a weapon idea. I had presumed this idea would be considered but figured that the novelty was short lived and those who'd like that sort of thing play HL-Deathmatch and shoot each other with toilets.

I would have like something slightly more creative. It'll add a new twist to TF2's feel. I'm yet to be sold.

I can probably assure you that the melee unlock will be a Boomerang now.

Why? About 20 cross/long bows were suggested in Steam Sniper forums.

On the other hand, about 50 boomerang ideas were suggested. Guess I'll never see my Lawn Chair idea in action =P
