They DEcreased Viking ground damage? What for? They were useless already!

EDIT: Alright, just tested it ingame and they need 4 shots to kill a Drone instead of 3 now. I guess that's why they changed it? *shrug*

Effectively Vikings are not as useful for harassment as they previously were. That damage isn't enough to make a huge difference in major battles, unless your entire ground army is vikings.

Update out of Steam, perhaps?

Patch 14 is clearly a mistake, anyways. Why would Blizzard buff Protoss?

Protoss are the weakest race, and have still been consistantly been nerfed throughout the beta. But saying that, 3 Void Rays can take out a base easily whilst major battles are going on. I always lose to Void Rays.

You're kidding, right? Archons are still useless and this tiny buff is barely noticeable. That said I agree with grazr, Void Rays are the best (and next to the Mothership the only viable) Protoss air unit simply because they don't waste DPS by shooting at already dead targets, if you know what I mean. You can just fly a bunch of VRs anywhere and unless they really focused on AA, you'll deal terrible, terrible damage. Thing is Protoss doesn't even have a proper AA unit either.

Blinking stalkers are perfect against light air units and enemy void rays, and void rays themselves are perfect against larger air units such as carriers, motherships, brood lords, and battlecruisers. Phoenixes are also decent against light air units if you have the ability to micro them correctly. Phoenixes also work as a very nice supporting unit to ground armies, as well as being quick for scouting.

Actually, i've found BC's the only viable anti VR rush unit for Terran. Their cost is about the same (BC's a little more, obviously), but Yamato Cannon as many as you can then focus fire the rest. Then attack the base before they can replenish ranks.

Anything else gets out manouvered by terrain, or out matched by the Void Ray's slightly greater hp/shield points (IE vikings). An equal amount of vikings will lose to an equal amount of Void Rays. You can't micro Vikings vs VR's because VR's out range them by 1.

It's just annoying that VR's get such a damage bonus against buildings because it's impossible to Base Race unless you have BC's or M&M's. VR's will destroy your M&M's so your only option is BC.

There is no viable counter to void rays. They're a broken unit.

What he said.

Ya 'no how zealots and zerglings always beat marines 1v1? Well, there is no unit that can do that to a void ray. Massed vikings? You need atleast three times as many to take out an equivilent amount of voids. Massed voids are OP. I have had battlecruisers taken down by just 2 or three. Not good.

against protoss its usually better to scout at around 16/19 or 17/19 food as terran to see if he warped a stargate,if he did get a reactor on rax and pump marines while saving gas for thors and push once you have 4 thors and 20+ marines.

its most viable since people over commit to void ray rushing.

Edit:Nerdboy, did you even bother to check the link.It wasn't even posted before and its not the video.
